My most liked posts have typos. My best posts don't get likes. I have a Ph D, you don't have to explain the two-party system to me.

remember, a college student who gets an F because she wrote "because Jesus says so" in an essay she didn't do any reading for is tyranny but a dean losing her new job because of her beliefs is freedom. what are you not getting about this.
The University of Arkansas's law school just withdrew the appointment of its new dean six days after hiring her because conservative politicians complained that she filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of transgender students
Culture warriors cancel new U of A law dean before she started - Arkansas Times
Culture warriors claim the scalp of Emily Suski, the would-be law school dean whose legal opinion on transgender athletes seems to have offended Arkansas officials.

We can finally try to address White Supremacy and patriarchy within the foundation of our culture, or we can all die with boots on our neck. But those are really the only choices at the end of the day

Whole country is running on abuser logic. Teliing a victim of abuse not to do certain things so they don't get hit doesn't actually prevent them from being hit in the future
This can't be said enough

Anyone who is cautioning non-action because they don't want to provoke Republicans is simply wrong

Republicans are going to act, our choice is how/if we will resist to defend our rights and our bodies from aggression

Expect no help from the press or the Dems
I have yet to see any confirmed reports of actual violence against ICE in Minnesota (or even any major property damage).

I hope everyone whose been saying "play nice or he'll invoke the Insurrection Act" now understand that the facts on the ground have nothing to do with that eventuality.

When I first got exposed to this history and realized these were the same critiques being made of a lot of Black organizing taking place in 2014 everything clicked into place for me re:intersectionality and identity
The Combahee River Collective is also widely recognized for introducing the phrase identity politics to explain its orientation toward politics in the 1970s. Smith identified three main reasons why Black women began to organize separately and with their own agenda:
The Black Feminist Collective That Gave Us Identity Politics
The Combahee River Collective’s 1977 statement reshaped the politics of the Black left and beyond.

Listening to @saracentury.bsky.social and @attackerman.bsky.social talk X-Factor #18 & now I'm thinking about the parallels between Xavier suppressing Jean's powers when she is younger & thus her being unprepared for Phoenix as metaphor for currently under-educating kids in a fascist/AI/misinfo era.

It's the Nelly, Hot In Here approach, "I'm just kiddin like Jason.... Unlessyougonedoit"
Lots of Trump’s remarks are what I think of as “threesome jokes.” As in “Ha ha, of course I wasn’t serious about having a threesome with your friend. Unless you’re into it, in which case, how about Saturday?”
Q: Americans for generations have fought and died for democracy. Are you saying the president finds the idea of canceling elections funny?

in general, a lot of doomerism on this website boils down to, "they are going to start treating us like black people, and i believe the marginalization of black people is immutable destiny"

What do all of the super wealthy and privileged people hand-wringing over the insurrection act being invoked daily actually think will tangibly change if/when that happens? Are people going to start getting shot in the street? Cause uh...

How did we end up in a society that requires more courage on a day-to-day basis from everyday parents and senior citizens than it does from elected officials and agents of law enforcement? Pathetic

So safe to say that the pivot towards more feckless and less honest rhetoric that went on during the latter half of the campaign in 2024 was at least partially signed off on by Tim huh? This is someone who is scared shitless. And like yeah, it is a scary situation, but you ran for fucking governor
January 15, 2026 at 6:23 PM
You're right, it's also because it's asymmetrical. If you want to exercise 1A rights by advocating for anti-Black or anti-trans policies you get a police escort onto campus. If you don't think Palestine should be bombed you get the shit beat out of you. Not everyone sees the issue here
have long argued that free speech discourse has obscured that Americans basically don't enjoy meaningful access to freedom of assembly any more
I think that people don’t comprehend that the state has been unapologetically beating young people’s asses basically nonstop & charging us with massive crimes for protesting since at least Occupy Wall Street & growing up like that has a chilling effect on the way people engage with democracy

This is nothing new. I mean there's a reason MLK wrote that letter from a Birmingham Jail. The state can been criminalizing protest it doesn't like forever.

You're right because Occupy was the point where it became okay to not even engage w/ what (White) protestors or activists were saying in favor of making jokes about them being unemployed. The Bundys & all of their guns are still legitimate in the eyes of the power structure in a way that OWS wasn't.
Hey, for those struggling with 'unapologetically' & 'at least' I am aware there were violent reprisals from the state before OWS. My mother was brutalized for being one of the first integrated kids in Arkansas.

What I'm addressing is a sharp escalation of a modern police state with respect to that.

Very similiar to the dynamic a century ago when police forces would direct White mobs in the middle of labor disputes into Black neighborhoods to blow off steam aka beat the hell out of Black people
In the case of Hurricane Katrina, the State was more-or-less absent except in the locations it had loud and absolute control over resources, and gave a nod to white vigilantes to indulge their bloody fantasies.
Rn the State is like, let’s do this together. I’ll even outfit and pay you for it.

Wild thing is, the Dems then lost the house and senate after record police funding, then lost again after funding an apartheid police state.
Dems won the presidency, the house, and the senate. Maybe the most successful political slogan in modern history
Because “Defund the Police” was such a smashing success.

The anti-DEI bullshit has always been simple racism barely even repackaged. Erasing Dr. Kings legacy was always one of the goals.

We pretend that the segregationists lost. But any defeat was temporary and they currently control all three branches of government.

There isn't a single ounce of evidence that refutes this claim
I think it's pretty clear at this point no Mayor actually controls their city's police force.
Here's Jacob Frey & his police chief. Is Frey telling his police to protect his own residents? No! He's letting his police chief order protestors to stop exercising their first amendment rights, and calling them "criminal demonstrators"

The whole country is running on abuser logic right now
"Don't take the bait" entirely elides the fact that ICE's presence in Minneapolis or LITERALLY ANYWHERE is unjustified on its face, period, end of. ICE is unneccesary and unlawful. It is, as ever, on the fascists to stop doing fascism, not on the people targeted to comply by being shot and abused.

That book and "Wages of Whiteness" will wake a lot of people's game up if they engage with them in good faith
the way my Irish grandma is the one who gave me “How the Irish Became White” to understand this, even tho she was 1st gen
For better or for worse, Black Americans' 7-12+ generations here means we've watched each ethnic group from Europe after Great Britain, France & Germany "become white." Some groups are in the crucible now...

From what we've seen, there's tons of racial anxiety *within* whiteness.
