Someone just tried to say that it was emotional blackmail for me to post how I'm upset that I've been trapped inside of my apartment for 4+ years because no one masks. Like, oh, you feel bad? So, mask up? Stop forcing disabled people out of public life? But folks would rather pretend we don't exist.

New, from me: The American Enterprise Institute is proposing that politicians prevent universities subsidizing faculty membership of academic associations that make "political statements."
Its one more effort to remove scholarly voices from the public square.

The mRNA revolution we're about to witness this decade is going to be staggering.
First-ever mRNA vaccine halts pancreatic cancer in its tracks
"Importantly, these patients demonstrated delayed recurrence of their pancreatic cancers, providing tantalizing evidence that the T cells activated by the vaccines may be effectively holding the cancer at bay."
First-ever mRNA vaccine halts pancreatic cancer in its tracks

What I just learned: Second-generation Starlink satellites produce so much radio noise that experts start worrying that it will get more difficult to measure quasar positions in the sky.

Why is this important? Because satellite orbit navigation depends on quasars for accuracy. Including GPS.

Hard to believe this is San Diego County but this is part of San Diego’s 640,000 acre desert playground known as Anza Borrego Desert State Park. I took this shot from a Jeep trail in the Borrego badlands and the distant body of water is Salton Sea.
