(1/5) Today we observe Red Shawl Day. This is a day of recognition for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Today, in the United States, Indigenous women face violence at more than ten times the national average, and these instances of violence are often unprosecuted.

Note that any appeals of the Texas ruling will go straight to SCOTUS, without stopping at the 5th Circuit along the way. That's because the original case was heard by a three-judge district court. Federal law specifies that appeals of such cases go right to SCOTUS.

Important thread linking the refined wealth of Cambridge, MA, to Jamaica's legacy of enslavement, by a knowledgeable scholar -- link at end for donations to aid Jamaica's hurricane recovery.
This is a plea to Massachusetts residents, particularly Cambridge residents and Harvard grads.

I've spend the last 3 years looking at old maps of western Jamaica while researching the history of absentee sugar planters who lived in Massachusetts while enslaving thousands of people in Jamaica.
#Jamaica needs our support more than ever right now and, never ones to shy away from self-reliance, they’ve set up an officially sanctioned website for recovery donations. The footage of Hurricane Melissa’s destruction in St. Elizabeth coming in from my family is HARROWING.

When CBP left LA for Chicago @ajaxsinger.bsky.social made the most important point I’ve seen:

Be sand in their gears

They’re staging in a parking lot? Contact the owner of the lot, most don’t like it. Make noise outside their hotel. Don’t serve them in restaurants. Blow whistles. Make them quit.
Miller's quotas are a bit of a saving grace bc as soon as an area makes it hard to rendition people, they're forced to move on or miss their metrics. Eventually, most enforcement will migrate into red areas and red states in spite of the promises to the business owners to leave those workers alone.

It's well-known that this is a pattern for some men. If it happened once with one student, there were undoubtedly others over a number of years. It's why women students whisper to each other, "You really don't want ____ as your advisor, and don't go with him to that conference."
I'm not linking to the article because 1) I don't know if the woman named ever had a relationship with Larry Summers and 2) I have no idea whether it was consensual. But the fact that he's teaching 3 classes this fall, with all of this going on, and nobody has pulled him out is absolutely bonkers.

“Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, said [Whitney Hu, a community activist and organizer with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid], ‘you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.’”
As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE SUBSIDIES & ACA EXCHANGES WORK ALREADY.

CONSUMERS ARE INFORMED BY COMPARING POLICIES ON THE ACA EXCHANGES, THEN THEY PURCHASE ONE AND THE GOVERNMENT PAYS SOME OR ALL OF THE COST OF THAT POLICY.

I'M TEARING THE LITTLE HAIR I HAVE ON MY HEAD OUT.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

Get ready to hear this spiel from Trump's circle as commonly as we used to hear "of course Trump will be happy to release his taxes, just as soon as the IRS completes its audit."
Everyone does know what's going on here, right? Should the Epstein evidence bill pass both the House and Senate, these criminals will say it can't be released because there is an active investigation. Never mind that a thorough investigation was completed, and the DOJ was prepared to try Epstein.

Seems possible that this is about even more than underage women.

Perhaps money changing hands— corruptly and internationally, and intertwined with underaged women?

Man, oh man.
The Kremlin disguised a nearly $100 mn payment to Trump in the form of a brokered real estate deal... and both Jeffrey Epstein and William Pulte were involved in the deal. That's very interesting.
