This is the statement that Jimmy Kimmel made that resulted in Disney/ABC permanently taking him off the air. Is this really where we are?

So Trump can get Kimmel and Colbert fired, execute people at sea, put others in a gulag, make foreign profits on crypto, force China to let his friends cash in on TikTok….

But he can’t stop healthcare prices going up 82% in Pennsylvania? Because he also needs a tax cut?

Yesterday, Trump was threatening a reporter. Today, he coerced ABC to kick Kimmel off the air.

He's also suing NYT & WSJ for reporting the truth. And it's not just media: he's threatening private companies, colleges, Congress—everyone.

Enough. NONE OF US should cave. We ALL need to push back.

Free speech is essential to our democracy. This attempt to silence is a clear abuse of power.

@jimmykimmel.com Kimmel is an ally of our community, and a model of what it means to live the American Dream. Thank you, Jimmy.

it is really important for news outlets to be clear (unlike the nyt here) that Kimmel was suspended not because of some grassroots backlash but because ABC caved to threats from the head of the FCC

The Jimmy Kimmel firing, Colbert's show, what's happening at WaPo, CBS... legacy journalism is slowly but surely coming under state control.

It is more important now than ever before that we support the independent journalists out there doing the work not beholden to a fascist's bidding.

This is censorship in action. The FCC chair threatens ABC and Disney over Kimmel’s comments. Hours later, he’s off air. It’s dangerous and unconstitutional.

The message to every media company is clear: Adopt the MAGA line or the Federal Censorship Commission will come after you.

Again, what KImmel said was NOT that Robinson might have been MAGA, but that the MAGA gang was desperately trying to say he was not and to score political points from it. Where is the deep offense to civility there, not to mention from a late night comedian?

Repubs got Jimmy Kimmel taken off air because they’re a bunch of babies. Free speech?? I’m flattered by their desperation. They’re getting crushed in the polls and broke the economy, so ALL they have left is beefing with a comedian. YOU SENSITIVE SCRUBS CAN’T STOP WHAT’S COMING!

One of the hallmarks of authoritarianism is to terrify people into self-censorship. ABC ending Kimmel’s show is the perfect example of this.

Hey @greggutfeld, you’re a coward. It’s not about Jimmy Kimmel’s company. It’s about the federal government threatening & pressuring Jimmy Kimmel’s company to suspend/fire him. And if you still had a principled core, you’d side with Kimmel & free speech. But you sold out yrs ago.

Colbert’s & Kimmel’s firings are a reminder that corporate media consolidation is a key battery for the creation of state media.

State media = authoritarianism

State media ≠ democracy

Once we scrape the Mad King & his crew out of office, let’s break up media conglomerates.

Disney/ABC just caved & pulled Jimmy Kimmel for political reasons.
Nexstar — which owns The CW + 200+ local ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX stations — is part of the same machine.

💥 Boycott Disney. Boycott Nexstar. Boycott their advertisers.

Every major talent that works for ABC and Disney should refuse to show up for work until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated.

Marvel movies need to shutdown. Ditto the sitcoms.

Collective boycott.

Corporations love money more than anything,& this will harm them and force them to do the right thing.

The best thing Kimmel could do right now is do what the Right does when it is deplatformed: replatform yourself on another service, go live, and dunk on the administration harder than ABC would ever have allowed him to. Go full South Park on them. Do an hour on Patel lying under oath about Epstein.
