Really rather surreal watching the optimism of Americans who think they can wait until their 2026 midterms to try and save themselves when their neighbours are already being kidnapped off the streets in broad daylight and their cities are being captured by militarized forces.

They didn't tell me when I was a girl that when I grew up I'd be walking down the street & my neighbor would stop to ask me if ICE left yet & a hippie dude with a long grey beard would be on a skateboard on the sidewalk shouting "Checkpoint ahead! Checkpoint ahead!" from a megaphone.

I sometimes see legal folks #onhere who get upset at non-legal folks who say that the law is not real even if the law has real world consequences. Yet the current moment illustrates the truth of this statement more than ever. More than that, the response can't be to keep saying the law is real.

the thing about making chicago the next target is that the activist community here is relentless and fearless to the point that i don’t see how the feds will get their intended results without going full martial law. if you’re familiar with the protest scene here, you know what i mean.
