Hot take: We should fail students when they turn in subpar work that doesn’t meet the standards set by the instructor. We would be better off if we stopped treating education like a market product where there customer is always right and failed more of the slop that gets passed off as good work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Worth noting that the student admits that she just threw the thing together in 30 minutes without reading the paper she was supposed to be responding to.

US media has decided to pretend that the Epstein-Nassar Letter Epstein sent just before he died merely had a "crude reference" to Trump.

NO.

It was a clear, unambiguous allegation by Epstein that Trump *regularly sexually assaulted* "young, nubile girls."

Our media is BROKEN.

Apparently, it is negotiable!
Health care isn’t negotiable.

We need to both reopen the government and work together to protect access to affordable health care by extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.

'The future being pushed by both AI boosters and educational censors is one where access to information is tightly controlled. Children will not be allowed to read certain books or learn certain narratives. “Research” will be performed only through one of a select few artificial intelligence tools…'
Librarians told 404 Media they're being inundated with new pitches for AI library tech and catalogs are being flooded with AI slop books.

But more broadly, AI maximalism across society is supercharging the ideological war on libraries, schools, government workers, and academics.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

It continues to amaze and confound me how whiteness plays out for white adult men in the US and beyond. "Young boys," who are over the age of 30, are given the benefit of the doubt. While BIPOC (i know people don't like this term) children (or even adults), never have that privilege.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

Even if Proud Boys aren't joining (and here is no confirmation), federal paramilitary forces clearly recruit from the same pool and share overlapping ideological and political goals. As has always been the case, far right gangs and street groups work with law enforcement, not against.
NEW: I took a long look at the Proud Boys and found some of their most extreme chapters are sharing ICE recruiting materials on encrypted apps and even suggesting members have joined up. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/in-the-...
