Honestly, I think a lot of politicians on both sides of the Atlantic got psyoped into viewing salt of the earth bigots as more authentic and worthy than them and thinking therefore they must ritually cleanse their sin of education by rolling in the gutter.

It was and remains a very curious feature of the US presidential election that it was fairly transparently a "sufficiently many voters are mad about inflation" election but it was treated as a huge Zeitgeist Shift by both proponents and opponents of Trump. This led to some over-confidence from Trump
NEW RESULT: Democrats have flipped a state Senate in Iowa.
This was a seat Trump carried by 11%, but Democratic nominee Catherine Drey has just won it by 10.4%.
This is the second legislative flip by Dems in Iowa this year. It also means the GOP loses its supermajority in Iowa’s senate.

Some of it is because they hate themselves and think he’s some kind of natural voice of the real people that they are not.
i talk about this a bit on the upcoming pod but the thing here is, there’s broad elite consensus that trump is king now. some of it is bc they like what he’s doing, some is bc they’re scared of his violent base, some is bc they think it sells papers, some is bc they think it’ll help them in midterms

i lost a lot of hope for state-level resistance to revolutionary trump actions after covid when it was demonstrated that cops would just ignore directions for blue state governments and refuse to enforce mask mandates or business closures etc. bsky.app/profile/emos...
Congress and federal employees need to be staging direct action about this now, forget the courts. Show up at the office of whoever is doing this and physically (nonviolently) stop them

the clear sign that they just don’t see these kids as real people is the endless concern over hypotheticals and the indifference to the reality that actual children are more likely to kill themselves because of these bans
