Started playing a game with birbs, and I named my birb "Tit" cos it is a legit Paridae sub-class. The app is refusing to let me name it cos "unacceptable"

As if I am the one who named some smol birds Great Tit, Sultan Tit, Elegant Tit, Sombre Tit, and whatnot

Look at these beautiful pair of tits

Always ask yourself:

Who writes the stories?
Who benefits from the stories?
Who is missing from the stories?

And, apparently - who benefits from the silence, when the stories can’t be told?

Active undermining of those who often speak the loudest truths to power is a tactic of authoritarianism.

This is not something I want to do, but as someone who was food insecure for a long time, here are some ways to get the most out of what you can get.

-if you have dietary restrictions or food aversions, spend some time thinking about what foods are safe. It sounds obvious, but—

More specifically: in the face of so much destruction and disregard, it's vital to be reminded of our capacity to love and care for even the smallest things, that we can work toward restoration and repair, even (or especially) after catastrophic loss.
Peeking in at juveniles in the sunflower sea star (Pycnopodia helianthoides) breeding program at Friday Harbor Labs was just overwhelmingly hopeful. These little guys can grow to 3ft across.

>90% of sunflower stars along N. America's west coast were killed by sea star wasting disease in 2013-14.

It's real important, clearly, that we are policed at the mega strike in Ōtepoti. Imagine deciding that teachers, nurses, doctors, firefighters, education and health support staff require police supervision just cos it's a strike.

I recently read an article
the headline of which noted:
“Post-pandemic
COVID-19 linked with
high numbers
of workforce absences and exits,”
and though I know
the headline begins
with “post-pandemic”
it seems to me
that the rest of the headline
shows we are still in the pandemic.

Over the last few weeks we have seen ministers and the head of the public service try to bully teachers, nurses & doctors, the government has the power in this dynamic. Ministers have called strike action unions playing politics when in fact politics is their game
