If you want to see how quickly everyone goes into manufacturing consent mode, compare the full-court press tonight to the response to any of the people ICE has shot in the last few months, some of whom died.

oh so these people do pay attention to who politicians follow on social media, they just don’t care that the vice president follows a bunch of actual neo-nazis
Axios tried to bust James Talarico for following adult content creators on Instagram and I'm genuinely impressed by his campaign's response

incredible that these guys have a massive hard on for a country that, if it were a state, would rank behind kansas in terms of wealth and which would be a total backwater if it weren’t economically integrated with more functional countries

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

These programs provide student services at public colleges across the country. They’re crucial to poor students at rural community colleges. This will devastate those institutions and the students for whom they’re a lifeline.
The Trump administration says it will withhold $350 million in grants to hundreds of colleges that serve large populations of minority students, calling the decades-old programs discriminatory.

politics is conflictual and you should pay attention to who benefits from pretending otherwise and how they do so
One of the biggest blunders (when well-intentioned) and betrayals (when not) in Democratic rhetoric over the years is their impenetrable insistence that what voters respond to is somebody who begins by finding common ground with their opponent, no matter who that opponent is or what that ground is.

If you know any Arab journalist or writer such as myself please be aware that were we in Gaza right now:

1- Israel would seek to murder us and

2- the NYT would publish a piece explaining why we’re bad people

Our loved ones would still be mourning for us while the NYT goes on the offensive

If this is what the company does during an emergency just wait to see what happens during the World Cup and Olympics

One of the things I’ve been thinking about recently is how republics are supposed to help people have as many happy stories as possible, how the end is inevitable but it doesn’t need to be bleak. And aristocracies are mostly concerned with a handful of stories, damn the rest.
'everybody dies'
'they'll get over it'
'people die'

the fuck is wrong with you

Honestly, even the Chinese and Russians never made me do this to get a visa. Even the North Koreans, who made me hand over my phone for the duration of my visit, never made this demand.

This morning, for the first time ever, she was challenged in the changing rooms at the swimming pool. Her breasts were not what make her a woman - but, breasts or not, she is entitled to dignity and protection from vigilantes.

I read that children 6-12 are more likely to be killed in Gaza because they’re too big to be carried, and not as fast as children 12+, and I can’t stop thinking about it. We have children running for their lives on the regular so much so that there are patterns as to who survives.
