One of the things I’ve been thinking about recently is how republics are supposed to help people have as many happy stories as possible, how the end is inevitable but it doesn’t need to be bleak. And aristocracies are mostly concerned with a handful of stories, damn the rest.

After the Tree of Life massacre we went to shul and as we lined up to go through the metal detectors a huge crowd of Muslim folks stood outside with signs chanting their love and support for us. It was one of the most moving things I’ve ever seen and it’s a testament both these NYC communities.

I read that children 6-12 are more likely to be killed in Gaza because they’re too big to be carried, and not as fast as children 12+, and I can’t stop thinking about it. We have children running for their lives on the regular so much so that there are patterns as to who survives.
