NEW from me - NSF cancels grant scheme for social science research.

Seems the NSF quietly archived ALL calls for DDRIG grants in the SBE directorate. This is a massive blow for PhD students wanting to do cutting-edge social science research. 🏺🧪

Wow. Only like every librarian, teacher, professor, writer, etc worth their salt has been saying this since the damnable thing came out.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

What’s with the endless puffy sleeves and farmgirl tiers in women’s clothing for the last few years? Is it tradwife-adjacent? Do these shapes hide some kind of fast-fashion production problem? Baffled, frustrated, but also intrigued.

SENATE DEMOCRATS: fine, we give in

A congress and senate where power is accrued by seniority in a system without term limits or retirement age limits insures an endlessly entrenched old and in the way gerontocracy that blocks democratic renewal and change that reflects the will of the electorate.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.
