I apologize if my former username containing zalgo text caused any issues for folks, as I had no idea it was so annoying for folks with screenreaders. Someone who I respect even blocked me over it(!), which is bonkers to me, til I found out took so long to read out, which seems a bug. 🤷🏻♂️

China’s investment in clean energy increased 40% on year, and rose to 5% of the country’s GDP, at 6.3tn yuan ($890bn). The investment spending is roughly equal to the GDP of Switzerland or Turkey. Investment in clean energy was responsible for all net growth in investment.

NEW: China’s unprecedented clean energy investment boom was the main driver of the country's economic growth in 2023. Without clean energy sectors, the country’s GDP would have grown by only 3% instead of 5.2%, missing the government’s target by a wide margin.

It's unacceptable that we *require* jobs in order to "earn a living." Living is a right. For the same reason it's wrong to kill someone, it's also wrong to withhold food we all need to live when there's enough for all. Jobs should be about wages for fun stuff, not survival stuff.

We know how to solve homelessness, we just don't do it. Universal basic income would greatly reduce and prevent homelessness. Land value taxes would tax land versus housing, increasing the housing supply and bringing costs down. We also need YIMBY reforms too to build more housing and lower costs.
