음. 공화 같은 단어가 뜻이 근대번역과정에서 굴절된 단어죠. 원래 공화는 연호로 쓰인 단어고, 이게 황제(그땐 왕이었지만) 없이 고관들이 정치를 했던 시기였던건데, 그게 근대 개념을 번역하면서 융통되어서 일종의 의회정을 공화라 부르게 된거.

취임 반년 지나고 그런 생각을 했다구요? 저는 취임할 때부터 친위쿠데타 일으킬 계획을 염두에 두고 있지 않았을까 추측합니다. 아니면 그렇게 기를 쓰고 국방부 청사로 대통령실을 옮기려고 했던 게 설명이 안 되잖아요... 게다가 국방부 청사 건물로 이전을 계획했던 게윤석열 내란의 주도자인 김용현 전 장관이었다는 것만 봐도 충분히 합리적인 의심 아닐까요?

아직 단편집으로 안 묶인 단편들 중에서 「달팽이의 뿔」 「깡총」 「1890년, 새들이 돌아오는 나날」은 코스믹 호러, 「소같이 풀을 먹는 예수 그리스도를 믿사오니」 「나를 들여보내지 않고 문을 닫으시니라」 「연약할수록 귀히 여기사」는 기독교 소재, 여기에 「푸른 하늘 그보다도」 「하늘색 잔광」 정도를 더하면…단편집 하나를 새로 낼 수도 있을 것 같은데….

너는 아마도 부모님의 하나 뿐인 보물일테지. 유치원에선 양보를 하게 되고 초등학교에 가선 맘에 드는 친구가 다른 친구의 단짝이 되고, 중학교에 가선 노력해도 안되는 일이 생기기 시작한다. 고등학교에선 세상이 나에게만 불공평하고 그만 죽어버리고 싶다 생각하다가 차츰 알게 된다- 모두가 저마다의 짐을 지고 있다는 것을. 세상엔 천재도 바보도 없고, 부러워할 것도 경멸할 것도 없고, 그저 인간이라는 것을 알게 되기 위해서 꾸준히 고생해 온 셈이다.
