You still managed to make it look unsafe and devoid of any Esplanade characteristics🤷. Try this one. Planters can also hide metal bollards for actual protection from 2000 lbs cars. Plants and planters show a clear demarcation of space indicating this is not for cars nor delivery trucks

The TTC website is now reporting daily OTP stats on the front page. This was previously available on the daily customer service report but is now placed front and centre for all to see. I'm liking the new CEOs transparency initiative.

Yay!

Minor thing: looks like they still haven't figured out the most important thing that should be on the dot matrix displays (next vehicle info).

Whoa, that's already a big improvement!

Can't help thinking that Line 6 can run faster than the buses it replaces if TTC management make that a goal. We have to keep pressure on the board and on council or the car-lobby councillors return with reinforcements.

I hope you realize the inconveniences this is going to cause for Toronto politicians if riders along Eglinton get an LRT too. They're also going to want nice things like that.

- TSP worked 2/3 times to give trains an advance green before left turns or shortened a left turn phase immediately to give a transit phase at jane and finch

-slow line speeds in between stops still a problem

this feels noticeably better. more improvements coming early next year!

-dwell times average 20s per stop

-in both directions, my train never hit a red light except at jane st

-green transit phase insertion/rotation being tested

Councillor Vince Crisanti says the increase to the land transfer tax on homes for more than $3 million is a "forced redistribution of wealth" and "insulting" to people who can afford homes in that range. "The wealthy already contribute to the economy in so many ways," he says.

A little inside baseball but I found this very funny. Two councillors, who are routinely confused why they can't NIMBY harder because of changes to the Planning Act made a motion asking staff to develop educational materials on those changes "for the public".

I will hold any consideration until the actual alignment options for Alto HSR are known, but once again we are probably gonna see the curse of anglosphere urbanism on HSR, i.e. the financial and political burden of routing rail through our infinite sprawl for (not?) getting to downtown.

Colle has, politely, never been the most policy oriented councillor but what he's calling for here makes no sense even by his standards. He wants to.. pause the rulings? Of an independent tribunal in response to them... correctly ruling that applications meet provincial TOD policy?

Nah it makes absolute sense to start on the shortest and easiest segment.
Both from an engineering perspective (build local experience) and from a political one.
(The moment the first segment is open is the moment HSR goes from may be cancelled by new government to everyone wants one)

I hope the city of Toronto doesn't move to block this. The correct synthesis imo is cars suck, human drivers suck. Move to add transit lanes, pedestrianize streets downtown, block through traffic in neighbourhoods, etc. to tame cars and it won't matter who drives them.

City Council will consider 20 km of new bike lanes without removing any car lanes. This comes after a hectic IEC where deputants sacrificed their speaking time to ensure it wasn’t deferred. It’s only a “win-win solution” if Council adopts the staff recommendations: www.cycleto.ca/win_win_solution

People sometimes say "don't complain". And the TTC has just made excuses instead of listening and showing leadership.

But advocates complained, and got a win as a result.

This is fantastic news. We just need to be ready to do the hard work of saying *no* we cannot have a stop on every block. Toronto is lower density than Paris, or Zurich, or Berlin. It should not have a wildly *higher* density of stops.
Not just TSP ! — new motion brought late today at TTC Board to look at stop spacing, vehicle speeds, and parking and turning changes. Let’s go!
