“People need to go all directions all the time” @en.ottawa.ca @octranspo.com @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social should read this and follow this guy. I know he his counter to everything OSEG, the mayor, council and OC stand for and support. But, the people need to be given some thought too.

creating new urban centers outside of the urban core is a good thing. Look at transit maps of Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, etc. it improves the overall experience of people across the area when new urban centers develop in the suburbs, as a result of new transit developments.

great perspective @humantransit.bsky.social

it is a truly transformational and positive project for mobility in Toronto!!! how many people live in this square and no longer need to go Downtown? its going to create new urban radial centers, no longer just transit to get people downtown for work---

Jeff, cities change and grow, its inevitable. you might push back now, but in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, cities will be denser, with taller buildings in many places, why fight against that if you know its coming eventually???

what about extended green for streetcars and pedestrians that are moving in the same direction? 15-20 seconds green for all(cars, streetcars, people), extra 15 seconds for both except cars. wouldn't that reduce delays in the unlikely event you have intersecting streetcars at the same intersection?
February 6, 2026 at 6:50 PM
why can't we do signal preemption? as well, there has to be a way to use AI to address intersections that have multiple streetcars passing through, its hard for me to believe the technology isn't there by this point but maybe I am wrong! @ontariotrafficman.bsky.social

ah thanks so much, the clarification is helpful. yes that would be huge but I am sure there is much more to go.

I think they are studying a kind of continuous green for Spadina, at least that was a conversation I had recently with TTC staff. should be able to put it in place. should be able to have it citywide.

As for the impact of car traffic on general streetcar opetations, yes obviously that a huge issue on mixed traffic lines, but the slowest line is the Spadina Streetcar which operates almost entirely in dedicated lanes.

the slowing down through intersections is so frustrating. last night took the bathhurst route, the driver got out at King Street to adjust the track with the little crowbar. there has to be a way to automate this with technology

According to CBC reporting, CEO Lali of the TTC says end to end travel time will be “just under 1 hour”. Travel times will still need to improve beyond that to match the promises from Metrolinx and the business case. Metrolinx said it would be 60% faster than the 32+34 buses, this is only 47% faster

Metrolinx has had easier experience with CN in getting exclusive track: CN has agreed to allow them to build 1-2 tracks along CN Halton for Metrolinx’s exclusive use between Bramalea and Georgetown, which is why GO can promise two-way all-day to Kitchener but not Milton. Hopefully CPKC comes around!

one guy was by the station where they showed the track/tunnel stuff, the other guy was to the right, he had a british accent, talked about the limitations of exceeding 320KMH, he said 350KMH was possible but requires expotential increase in energy input
