I'm going to keep posting cute birds and animals not because I'm uncaring of the tragedies and deep struggles of the world right now, but because I hope it can share a moment of peace, hope, & a reminder that this world is also full of soft, and beautiful things worth living and fighting for.

Look for the helpers.

Look for the people organizing to protect the most vulnerable.

Look for the people who have been concretely planning for how to respond, and are ready to implement.

Join them, if you can.

You are allowed to celebrate good things that are happening today: your birthday, a book coming out, new baby, new puppy, seeing your favorite piece of art in person, etc.

Joy is the knife that stabs into the heart of despair & apathy.

Feel your joys, big & small, & share them widely & loudly.

The rift in my country deepens. What else can I do but make sure those around me and others are comfortable, despite the circumstances?
