Every single commercial break is ads for the damn gambling sites. Doesn’t matter the platform or medium. Opened a new book at the Missoula Barnes & Nobles and BAM “FanDuel” ad. Not even sure how they did that.

when I moved into my flat I thought "oh I hate the very bright bulb in the hallway, I need to change it" and today, a mere 19 months after moving in, I have actually changed the bulb

something really funny about doing pole dancing as a sport is the extent to which it demystifies the whole thing, went to see Anora and in one technically titillating scene you've got a stripper doing some move on the pole and my only thought was "oh she's doing the vomitron!!"

I'm going to keep posting cute birds and animals not because I'm uncaring of the tragedies and deep struggles of the world right now, but because I hope it can share a moment of peace, hope, & a reminder that this world is also full of soft, and beautiful things worth living and fighting for.

I have a lot of thoughts I don’t want to entertain right now. Fortunately, I also have a longbow, a quiver full of arrows, and an archery range in my backyard.

At the end of The Empire Strikes Back the rebels are desolate. Han Solo is frozen in carbonite. Luke Skywalker has been defeated in battle by Darth Vader, losing a hand in the process. The Emperor's victory was total.... until the Jedi returned.

Not sure what made me think of that.

The Mr. Rogers advice for moments of crisis is a useful thing to remember right now.

Look for the helpers.

Look for the people organizing to protect the most vulnerable.

Look for the people who have been concretely planning for how to respond, and are ready to implement.

Join them, if you can.

You are allowed to celebrate good things that are happening today: your birthday, a book coming out, new baby, new puppy, seeing your favorite piece of art in person, etc.

Joy is the knife that stabs into the heart of despair & apathy.

Feel your joys, big & small, & share them widely & loudly.

The rift in my country deepens. What else can I do but make sure those around me and others are comfortable, despite the circumstances?

I’ll do what I can to make my family and friends happy. We’re all we got.

Life is a dance, and though we stumble, we keep going.

Doom Scrolling? Sounds impressive as hell, not even sure how you can emulate Doom on a scroll. That’s gotta be some real special papyrus

Yes, there will also be singing.
About the dark times.
