I'm getting a bit tired of people saying Canada's Liberals are exactly the same as the Conservatives when the Liberals, unlike the Conservatives, are not interested in hunting trans people for sport

You may think that's a small difference but it matters a lot to me, and I fucking see you

I don't want to get TOO ahead of myself here but:

#iHunt: The Feature Film is now in development. Officially. And we have a casting director, who was responsible for casting one of my all-time favorite indie movies, Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.

Full opinion here. Judge Xinis is clearly hopping mad with the government's repeated refusals to comply with her requests to be forthright about the situation, and suggests she will take it into account in pending sanctions motions. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Can't fit it all in, but:

"...and a few million years later the universe arranged itself according to trillions-to-one odds so that you can exist and, somehow, instead of living in a perpetual state of wonder and gratitude, you get annoyed that we ran out of toilet paper."

Lovely. Give it a read.

NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

If you never knew about the little dagger symbol in the NYT bestseller list, it’s a fun rabbit hole. Go look it up.
Open industry secret: most political non-fiction books get purchased by foundations or non-profits to be given out with giftbags at events. 100,000 people aren't buying a book by Lauren Boebert on the future of America. GOP operatives are and giving them away for free as "gifts." BEST SELLER!
“American Canto,” one of the most hyped political books of the year, flopped in bookstores.

Cozy horror has been a thing since John Wyndham, and always will be. In the end, cozy is like horror or romance; a modifier rather than a core descriptor. Cozy is a vibe, a "know it when I see it," and none of us, me included, can set hard rules for inclusion.

So it is this squishy, squelchy, kinda gooey definition I ask you to keep in mind when I tell you that HOW TO SURVIVE CAMPING: THE MAN WITH NO SHADOW is the best cozy horror I've read in years. Corpses? Sure. Gore? Yeah. But the vibe is convivial and welcoming, and the setting is glad you're here.

I will go to my grave screaming about how Pennywise being a clown hits completely different for anyone under 40 or 50, because the original intent was that Pennywise LOOKED HARMLESS, because “IT” predates scary clowns, & if the story were modern, Pennywise would manifest as a ninja turtle or Luffy
Welcome to Derry reveals why It loves to use the form of Pennywise the Clown so much.

Not trying to armchair diagnose or anything, but a whole lot of people who are constantly screaming at other people about Causes on social media exhibit A LOT of behaviors that would make me put them on moral injury burnout leave if they were T&S agents I was managing
I am frankly not much use to anyone - friends, family, anyone I might use what resources I have to help - if I am constantly living in a black hole of despair

and neither, I think, is anyone else
It’s very funny when people are like “why do you care about this celeb gossip when there’s [various important current events]” like what are you doing? Oh posting about it? Should we throw a party?

My latest @thebulletin.org piece tries to reckon with the economic costs that would accompany the bursting of the AI bubble - and also highlights some of the societal costs we are already paying.
Silicon Valley has placed a trillion-dollar bet that gen AI can transform the global economy and pave the way for AGI. But warning signs show the marketing hype has vastly overrated what current AI tech can achieve, creating a bubble with growing costs when it pops, writes @jeremyhsu.bsky.social.
When it all comes crashing down: The aftermath of the AI boom
AI has buoyed the stock market and a struggling US economy but warning signs indicate a bubble that everyone will pay for when it bursts.

Bad framing: ACIP voted to scrap the universal hepatitis B vaccine recommendation for newborns.

Accurate framing: Anti-vax conspiracy theorists appointed to ACIP by Robert Kennedy Jr., who made a fortune as an anti-vax profiteer, voted to expose babies to a preventable, incurable, deadly illness.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service
