I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

The Trump administration is still fighting to withhold SNAP funds that help feed 42 million Americans, with the latter including many active-duty military personnel, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and their families. Not to mention veterans...
And to make matters worse:

More than 20,000 military families, 213,000 National Guard and Reserve members, and 1.1 million Veterans rely on SNAP benefits.

This Virginia election result is an eye-opener for me, even though I've covered the environmental and health impacts of AI and data centers for quite a while. 👀
Did you know a former White House climate advisor flipped a GOP stronghold in Virginia by running entirely on putting a stop to more AI data centers?

For @heatmap.news I profiled John McAuliff and a campaign that will be a roadmap for all future anti-AI politicians moving forward.
This Virginia Election Was a Warning for Data Centers
John McAuliff ran his campaign almost entirely on data centers — and won.

Among other things, young people are students who are often having to do “critical triaging” around basic needs, parents trying to feed their kids, & human beings who need food for themselves. When you don’t have access to critical resources like SNAP, “it can have ripple effects even beyond food.”
It feels a bit weird to post right now in light of what has happened to @teenvogue.com and so much of the incredible team there. What sources shared here is important, & I’m grateful I got to work on this. I reported on how young people are being impacted by delays to SNAP: “It’s about survival.”

For any unfamiliar with the quality of journalism at Teen Vogue, it's well known for hard-hitting stories on "politically sensitive" topics including climate.

Then there's CBS: the only major network to increase climate coverage in the last few years. They just axed nearly their whole climate team.
