TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Everyone, I have written to Dr Verrall saying that the lack of a formal statement from the Labour Party decrying the new blockers policy is unacceptable.

Please email her politely and ask her to issue a formal statement on behalf of Labour.
The Greens and TPM have both issued good statements.
Everyone please write to labour:

Chris Hipkins
Ayesha Verrall
Shanan Halbert
Duncan Webb (as this is a human rights issue)

And ask them to make a strong statement saying they will instantly repeal the regulation. Apply as much pressure as possible to the Government.

The prices of things that New Zealanders can’t avoid is rising quickly, putting more stress on already overstretched budgets. Electricity prices are up 11.3%. Gas prices up 15%. Fruit and veg prices up 7.5%. Contents insurance up 9.3%. Going to the GP costs 10.3% more.

Morning folks! I’ve a favour to ask. I’m finally in a position to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help recover some of the money I had to spend taking my employer to court for contract breaches. If you’ve any ideas for things I could offer as rewards let me know! Or if you could offer a reward :)

There are >160,000 people unemployed, and last time I checked on Seek, about 12,000 jobs. The technical term for the gap between those two numbers is “economic mismanagement”

The Online Safety Act wants to classify Wikipedia as a social media site, making its volunteer editors verify their identities. If it doesn’t comply, Wikipedia could end up being blocked in the UK. Think on that before we push for internet age restrictions in NZ. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...

Another submission WE MUST ENGAGE WITH! I don’t know about you guys, but at no time in my 49years on planet earth have I ever had to submit against a NZ govt as constantly as this. My god, we are walking ourselves head on into authoritarianism at this rate! 🤬 #nzpol #OneTermGovernment
Great thread from Kyle, spelling out the dangers of the government’s moves on terrorism and protest legislation.

A must read, and then submit by 8 August.

The issue for Hipkins and Labour is that until they commit to — and implement — increasing taxes on the wealthy and bringing in a Capital Gains Tax, they won’t have the revenue to fund welfare to lift people out of poverty, plus increase health, education and housing spending.
