I know it's important to stay in the moment, help in whatever way possible in the moment, and hang on to our sense of humor but right now it's really, really difficult.

I don't want to downplay the rest of the message in this clip but today I'm taking comfort in the fact that she said that if she could, she'd catapult certain people into space.
Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

I started watching vintage British tv recently (previous exposure was limited to Granada's Holmes) and she's AMAZING. There's a show where she's a detective too, which I haven't seen but it looks great.
Keeping Up Appearances star Patricia Routledge dies at 96. I loved that show — almost every time I’m driving and see a herd of cows in a nearby field, I shrill, “Mind the cows, Richard!” [bbc.com]

She also starred in Alan Bennett’s TV monologues and played the BBC’s amateur sleuth Hetty Wainthropp.

My elderly cat passed away this time last year and I still miss her, and tbh I've been liking the litterbox free life, but I'm at the point where I need another cat and it's both exciting and very difficult to think about. 😺

Stop lying. Your state cops attacked protesters alongside ICE yesterday. I was there. I and others were violently attacked by ICE agents. Your state cops acted in concert with them during the attack.
State, county, and local law enforcement have been working together and coordinating to ensure public safety around the Broadview ICE facility, and to protect people’s ability to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights.

WHY do they keep insisting that being on Medicaid is like being on unemployment!?!

No one gets a check from Medicaid, it pays medical costs directly. There are employment reqs for Medicaid!

(I know why, they're trying to destroy it despite the human cost. But seeing the lies pile up is insane.)
Comer: "We care about the people that are gonna lose -- ah, that could potentially lose healthcare. But there are people that can't afford healthcare. We've gotta get people off Medicaid and into the workforce and into private healthcare."

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Wow. These chatbots have got to go.

It's like these tech companies are running their version of the Harlow Fake Mother Experiment, but their test subjects are anyone with a fucking phone.
This is the biggest, toughest article I’ve done about so-called “AI psychosis.” It’s the story of a man who committed a horrific crime in his youth but served his time and against all odds found love and a new life—one that completely unraveled after he started talking to Google’s Gemini chatbot.
He Grew Obsessed With an AI Chatbot. Then He Vanished in the Ozarks
Jon Ganz committed a terrible crime in his youth, but he survived prison, fell in love, and started over. His new life unraveled in a way nobody could have predicted.

I don't think I've ever read a more perfect encapsulation of my experience of the world than this
My personal timeline is full of autistic people trying to explain that there isn't more autism than before, it's just that we're better at detecting it, and there's nothing more autistic than hoping explaining something at length will help matters when nobody is really listening.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

Over the weekend, we received reports of federal agents from ICE and Customs abusing their power.

And now, we're being told the Trump Administration wants to deploy 100 military troops to Illinois.

One thing is clear — none of this is making Illinois safer.

A pattern is developing where everyone who fights back against a Trump attack inevitably wins with their reputation much better than before, and everyone who caves to him looks like shit and has Trump coming back for more a month later.

Can I have some money off the tariff shelf I need to buy coffee.
Trump: "The other day, it was very interesting, they found $31 billion. They said, 'Sir, we've found 31.' I said, 'You mean positively, right?' They said, '$31 million more than we knew.' And they said, 'We don't know where it came from.' I said, 'Check the tariff shelf.'"
