This piece was greenlit and then killed by a British newspaper, so I’ve decided to publish myself instead.

Let’s take a look at the whole “there are too many black people on TV” thing, shall we?

After Pochin claimed Black people in TV adverts “made her mad”, all her supporters tried to use 👇🏼 as their excuse for why she was somehow justified in her overt racism.

Spoiler - she isn’t! 🤨

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I'm part of the lanyard class and so is everyone else who works in our college. I like being able to open doors and print things, oh, and have no problem wearing it for student safety.
After clashing with Maurice Glasman recently, I've come to realise just how pernicious he and his Blue Labour movement are. We could discuss his chumminess with Steve Bannon and JD Vance, endless pandering to the far right and evident hatred of the Labour left. But there's something even worse. 🧵

If you don’t like being called a racist, maybe don’t make a career of saying things that appeal to racists, don’t create a political party that keeps attracting racist candidates, don’t fawn over racist world leaders, and don’t make a convicted racist the guest of honour at your party conference.

Can't believe I missed this. Quietly relieved I missed this.
Oh look, the 'bad Bootle UKIP meff' is back
New Deputy Chairman of Reform is Paul Nuttall – the man who falsely claimed to be a pro footballer, have a PhD, live in his constituency when he didn’t and have close friends who died at Hillsborough. A vetting system cock-up or just Reform being the natural home of lying twats?

EHRC backs down on single-sex toilets | Good Law Project
The EHRC’s interim update unleashed chaos after the Supreme Court’s transphobic decision. But now the commission says it was only ‘some observations’ and rows back on its demand for single-sex toilets...

The only time I made the front cover of a daily paper was when I queued to see the tunnels when they opened.
If you've ever marvelled at the vaulted Victorian subterranea of Liverpool's Williamson tunnels you have The Heritage Centre to thank. Unfortunately, it will be closing for good on June 1st if they can't raise £12k.

Here's how you can help

It is with huge regret and great sadness that the Joseph Williamson Society has to report that,… David Bridson needs your support for Save the Heritage Centre

Polly just stunned by arrival of boiler engineer in her kitchen. After a bit of panicked to and fro she took the only reasonable route through the open conservatory window. An open conservatory door option was available but rejected.

I was looking forward to a few more days of the papal conclave as a replacement for the snooker. And I'll not see the adorable Yellow-legged* gull family again
*Yes, that's the actual species. Gulls don't have very exotic naming conventions. It's a gull. It has yellow legs.

I think what tipped me over the edge was the sport presenter on Today this morning who was talking about a version of Ronnie O'Sullivan I've just not seen. I admit I'm not really a fan but even he's been saying he's playing below par.
