It's not the biggest issue today, but this statement should be given in Parliament.

This isn't fuddy-duddyism. It allows MPs to ask questions, puts other parties on the record, and, most importantly, doesn't allow a PM to pick the audience: a power that Starmer does not abuse, but future PMs will.

If any of Trump’s cabinet had any balls, they’d be talking about the 25th amendment; but they don’t, and they won’t.

Really interesting profile of Reform's candidate to be London Mayor.
Nine years ago a Twitter user was sending poetry to Sadiq Khan about London’s many cultural identities. A decade on, Reform UK’s mayoral candidate doesn’t dispute it was her old account - so what’s changed?

Like everyone else, I was reeling from the news about Robert Jenrick’s sacking/defection when we recorded this yesterday afternoon - but I’ve tried to put it into historical context.

Reform UK: nothing screams challenging "The Establishment", and taking on "The Blob", quite like convening policy experts for a roundtable at the Travellers Club.

Bellingcat are as good as it gets in deciphering footage and other OSINT like this.
For those keeping score, Bellingcat, The New York Times Visual Investigation Team, & Washington Post's Visual Forensic team have all published analysis showing the ICE shooter wasn't in the path of Renee Nicole Good’s vehicle when he shot her, contradicting statements by the President & his cronies

Gerrymandering means that a waste of space like Congressman Wesley Hunt can keep getting safely re-elected for the rest of his life, no matter how many callous murders of 37-year-old mothers he defends.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

It’s horrifying. The murder of course. But the lies spewing from the American right and the timid acquiescence and both-sidesing to be found everywhere. These are evil times.
This is also a field test.

If the press lets them muddy the waters on executing a woman in Minneapolis despite multiple witnesses and video recordings clearly depicting what happened, the message they'll take away is that there's nothing they can't get away with.

Nothing.

There’s a lot of talk about NATO’s Article 5, and what it would mean if one NATO country attacked another.

There’s not nearly enough attention being paid to Article 42.7 of the Treaty of Lisbon, and what happens if an EU member state is attacked.

It was a little over three years ago that Keir Starmer promised to do away with the House of Lords altogether as part of his plans to restore trust in politics. Now, he's nominating his own (less than stellar) allies, writes @arusbridger.bsky.social
The PM vowed to abolish the Lords. Why is he stuffing it with allies?
In Matthew Doyle, we are about to get another less than stellar peer. Now is the time for change

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

I've always enjoyed Marty Feldman's work and found him very funny; and colleagues rueing his early death often spoke of his being a very nice man.

What comes out in this extraordinary 1969 documentary-essay on the nature of comedy is that he was very thoughtful, too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0it...
