This guy is an arse, and also wrong: Sensible Centrism was dead as fuck as any kind of popular phenomenon in the 2000s and it will continue to plague and damage us next year because - like the Tories 2016-21 - it’s rotted corpse was propped up and walked around by the press, like Weekend At Bernie’s

If I was a Sensible Moderate with Centrist politics, I’d probably want to have devoted at least somewhat more time to saying I disapprove of genocide, facilitating genocide and draconian crackdowns on protests against genocide, than I had to bitching about protests being childish and self-indulgent.

Will you marry me?

That's a great question! Marriage is one of life's most important values--thanks so much for asking!

I'm not sure I can marry you right now, but how about these potential alternatives:

1. Couple wardrobe makeover
2. 5 ideas for romantic movie night
3. Learn Python together

like, "trump bought a teen pageant so he could creep on girls in the dressing room" is an established thing he just said on the radio

but all the fancy people are like, "i'll pretend i don't know that," because they live in an epistemic bubble where no one's *really* a rapist til they're cast out
there is a lot of value in mapping out epstein's entire network of rapist associates, but it's kinda painful how much we have *always* known trump is a pedo rapist and all of the discourse about him is just fishing for some kind of special signifier that makes it ok for powerful people to say it now

Just think what could have been done if, rather than practicing class solidarity and looking after the old boys network, Joe Biden and the Democrats had tried to actually fight.
Democrats had all these files that are now being released.

They had four years under Biden to do *something* with this mountain of evidence to stop Trump.

They instead did nothing. There is simply no justification for this.

The West Bank-ification of much of southwest Syria is already under way with checkpoints, Israeli only roads (thus far for the occupation army), the demand that local villages ask the Israeli occupation for permission to travel, and so on. Settlement is the natural extension of this process.

I'd go a bit further. The system needs no conspiracy to function. It just needs everyone to understand the direction things are going in. Bari Weiss was put there not to protect a legacy, but to align its politics differently.

where it started: there is a crisis of free speech on campus because oberlin students said something dumb about the dining hall! college is about Having your Views Challenged

where it ended: you can openly halfass an assignment and if you get a bad grade you can fire your professor for wrongthink
Worth noting that the student admits that she just threw the thing together in 30 minutes without reading the paper she was supposed to be responding to.
