One thing I’ve learned in social work: most of us are way closer to being unhoused than we think. A job loss, medical bill, divorce, or emergency and suddenly you’re sleeping in your car. Housing insecurity isn’t about bad choices… it's about being one crisis away from losing everything.

So, the quote-- Think about where we are in history.

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.”

Ward Sakeik is married to an American, has a pending green card application, owns a home in Texas, and has never been to Israel-Palestine.

Why did ICE arrest her on her honeymoon and try deporting her to a country she's never seen?

If a pregnant woman is brain dead, in a coma, and no longer has rights to make decisions about the pregnancy according to E. Bruenig, that means we don’t have a say in what happens to our organs and corpses after we die. We are public property upon death. Quite an argument!

This is HUGE.

For those wondering why due process is essential for EVERYONE. This is why!
Cato has published my comprehensive review of the ~240 Venezuelans the US government renditioned 2 months ago to Salvador’s notorious prison. We identified FIFTY who came legally, never violated any immigration law, but are imprisoned at the US government’s request and at US taxpayer expense.

This story is incredible. Norman Wong is 70. His great-grandfather was Wong Kim Ark. His father was detained at Angel Island in the 20s when he was a teenager when he came here from China. His mother was interned during WWII. So much immigration history in one family.
“Over a century after his great-grandfather Wong Kim Ark fought to establish birthright citizenship in the U.S., Norman Wong is picking up the torch to defend his family's legacy and the rights of all Americans.” documentedny.com/2025/05/14/s...

She says, “Without due process, without belief in the Constitution, we are not Americans. “

This is a common (and once widely held) notion. As Pres Biden used to say, “We are the only nation founded on an idea.”

If you’ve ever heard me talk about the Constitution, you’ve heard the same thing.
On April 24, ICE agents broke into a home of a family of US citizens in Oklahoma. The family repeatedly said we are citizens, you have the wrong people. ICE terrorized the family, ripped apart the house.

It's not "other people" that this is happening to. It's us. Open your eyes. Wake the hell up.
