Kings aside, this story also resonates with interpretations of perceptions and attitudes to woodland, trees and timber posts in the European Neolithic...
The Hittite king must ask the Storm god for a tree to build with, he must secure permission to cut down a living thing that has taken decades to grow strong and long enough to be used for construction.

And he doesn’t just need permission.

Chuck Schumer and the corporate Dems aren’t just not up for this fight, they have no intention whatsoever of doing anything that will actually address the material conditions that gave rise to fascism.

More people are waking up to this and that’s hopeful, but that recognition is everything.

Restricting access (age-verification laws) and creating liability for publishing (FOSTA/SESTA) have been the shorter term solutions.

Censorship is not one thing (book bans) but a series of strategies used to limit access to ideas that the government finds dangerous or destabilizing.

Hot take: Nazi tattoos should disqualify candidates of ANY party.
There's purity tests that are nuances and silly and then there's literally a Nazi tattoo. I'm extremely comfortable kicking that out of the tent. If Democrats can't win without Nazis then the USA is just going to hell.

Another good time to remind people that “tear gas” is a term of copaganda that police, the military, and its manufacturers use to obscure that it is a dangerous chemical weapon internationally banned for use even in warfare.

The homes of a quarter of the animals that live in our oceans. Gone forever.

We should grieve & know that these tipping points are gonna fall like dominoes.

Now is not the time for ‘carrying on as normal’.

All our homes are at risk.
Planet’s first catastrophic climate tipping point reached, report says, with coral reefs facing ‘widespread dieback’
Unless global heating is reduced to 1.2C ‘as fast as possible’, warm water coral reefs will not remain ‘at any meaningful scale’, a report by 160 scientists from 23 countries warns

Do we really want 250,000 mirrored satellites in Low Earth Orbit? Hasn't the Starlink megaconstellation already done enough damage?

A US startup plans to deliver ‘sunlight on demand’ after dark. Can it work – and would we want it to?
Satellites beaming sunlight down to Earth sound like science fiction – and they have astronomers very worried.

At the In Formation website, the 1st printing is sold out. It's now on sale at Barnes & Noble but several stores have sold out. I'm expecting a 2nd printing to be announced, but can't say for sure. I have a few copies left for sale. I don't expect them to last long. buymeacoffee.com/johnsundman/...

I see people fighting back and organizing every fucking day. ICE hasn't met their recruitment goals. They haven't met their kidnapping goals. That's WHY they keep escalating.

If you think the GDPR protects you, it's doesn't.

If you hadn't realised privacy is a national security and corporate espionage issue, it is.

If you think politicians can't tackle this, they can.

If you believe that tech or business need this, they don't.
Either real-time bidding data or app SDK data is being bought and used by ICE to seize people from the streets. If you didn’t believe that the adtech stack is a human rights concern, I’m not sure what more evidence you need. www.404media.co/ice-to-buy-t...
