snap the #bone to see how it breaks.
the splinters will tell you the future
of a murderer. take the marrow dust
and stew it in your tea. drink down
the entire brew to the last drop
to see your victim's fate in tandem
with yours. bury the bone as well as (1/2)

Had a bad day today. Made mistakes at work. I don't handle that well. No reason why I should, really.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Here is the full orders list from the Supreme Court: www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

And here is my earlier report at Law Dork on the Sixth Circuit decision rejecting Kim Davis's case, which the Supreme Court let stand with today's cert denial. www.lawdork.com/p/kim-davis-...
Kim Davis loses. Again. Unanimously. (But, this still might not be the end.)
The Sixth Circuit rejected the appeal of the former Kentucky county clerk who was sued after she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

I thought Harry Melling was amazing as a young Edgar Allen Poe in THE PALE BLUE EYE, and the oppressive darkness of the film reminds us how ubiquitous light is now. But otherwise I found the movie meandering, and it pulled all its punches. I think I wanted it to be meaner.

I'll try asking this again: Would you rather have two novellas and a novelette separately or in a single book together?

Whenever language around what people deserve and what they don't deserve in the US comes around I am reminded at how much this is a game to people, how they can't fathom real lives

Not just politicians, but literally our neighbors. The cruelty people will put onto others without a second thought

Did we need JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH? No. Did I enjoy it? Yes. It's second half was stronger than the first for me (which is unusual, bc I usually prefer the set-up). I thought I'd hate the mutants, but it ties back to JW:FALLEN KINGDOM and the more pointed Universal Studios Frankenstein angle.

I love this movie so much for all kinds of reasons, but the accents aren't one of them: Julia Roberts and John Malkovich in MARY REILLY (honorable mention, Glenn Close).
Name the worst movie/TV accents.

N&F(M8): 100,006/120,000 words

This scene is a long one, but if I can get through it, there's light at the end of the tunnel. Might have to amend that end word count to 130,000 words, though.

This is just solid gender-agnostic advice, by the way

If you're feeling isolated or alienated, get into an Art or Craft as best you are able and join a community dedicated to it

Look to your local library for resources! You will be surprised by what's available
Specifically, get a hobby in which you MAKE something, and then find places for other people who share that hobby

Making things is good for you on, like, a spiritual level, so you're already improving your outlook, and you have a healthy foundation on which to build new relationships
