The issue is that, historically, angry D voters don't show up to primaries and vote out incumbents the way R voters do.

The threat to "primary them" is not read as a serious threat.

We'd be a much healthier party, and a much healthier country, if it were taken more seriously.

MoveOn, Indivisible, Our Revolution, and 6 Democrats have called on Chuck Schumer to step aside as leader.

So we asked all 40 Democratic senators who didn’t cave to Republicans if they still think Schumer is the right leader.

Here's what they said.

Furious Liberals Call for Schumer to Step Aside, Senate Dems Mostly Quiet
After their shutdown surrender, liberal lawmakers are begging their base to unite behind them anyway – as Trumpland celebrates that their opposition is a bunch of 'p*ssies.'

Look, I'm angry and scared and disgusted and sad about the Cowardly8. BUT, I'm not hopeless. And I don't think blaming all Dems is the answer, nor do I think giving up is the answer. So I recommend reading every potential game plan out there. Including this thread:
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Do I trust them? No. That’s why I voted no. But they are in a terrible position, and we can use the next few weeks to turn the pressure up even further.

No one’s feelings are wrong. That’s not my point. We’re in a real battle, against a corrupt and malevolent foe, with huge stakes. We must win.

I'm admitting here and now that I haven't read a single Joyce Carol Oates book, and I want to remedy that.

Any recs on where to begin? I like books that play around with chronology, campus novels, and novels about characters with anxiety and depression.

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

It’s important to achieve bipartisanship with Republicans so they can arrest Barack Obama for something they read on the Epoch Times’ Facebook page written by a Chinese cult member in 2019.
Breaking MSNBC:

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida called a division-wide meeting this afternoon, following the resignations of two prosecutors who were asked to take part in a vast "conspiracy" investigation into former intel and law enforcement officials.

If you were to take a poll of Ds and D-leaning voters at the moment, you'd find that most are pissed as hell at these 8 D Sens.

So this isn't a D Party problem so much as a D Sen problem, and I wish we had better answers as to why this keeps happening other than "Schumer Sucks."

Short term, yes. And this is a short term deal— through January 30. Gets people through the holidays. The question is whether the Dems will have the stomach and fortitude to do this again when this CR expires. It’s understandable if people doubt it.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

Start making your own weather resistent yard signs.

I'm in PA. Maybe something like: "Fetterman Lies!" or "Fetterman, Resign!" or "F Fetterman!"

Make your own signs, stick them by the road, and take pictures. Shouldn't cost too much. Might be effective. Could be fun.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
