Twin Peaks, horror, books, psychotronalia. He/him.
The worst part about this time we’re in is realizing no one in power now has any interest in actually fixing the damage already done. But I remain hopeful people will see the logic of this plan.
When Ds are back in charge, they have to change everything. No moderate half-measures. Just relentless razing of the corrupt institutions that enriched the worst people in the world and propped up fascism.

A few suggestions...

Back from birthday date night with @ambergir.bsky.social. Went to see Heart Eyes, which kills with a crowd.

Love the effort @ninjapleasedj.bsky.social puts into these screenings. Original art from @alexpardee.bsky.social, bespoke ticket, and v-day cards for all who attend.

Some small good news! I reported the ‘band’ Glasstrees on Bandcamp for being completely AI generated.

Bandcamp customer service let me know today that they’d been completely removed from the service.

Encouraged that they’re taking the AI ban seriously and enforcing it.

Music to cook to.

Damn this album is so good. An artistic collaboration for the ages, and completely unlikely.

Ok let’s get this over with.

#NowWatching The Dead Pool, the final Dirty Harry (so far!), finishing out the boxset.

These have been a pretty consistent case of diminishing returns, each a little less interesting than the last. But I’m hoping to at least like this more than Sudden Impact.

Here again at @killerfitnessla.bsky.social for another fun screening. Our first of two here this week.

Tonight’s flick is Brian Yuzna’s slice of late-eighties gonzo insanity that is Society.

@ambergir.bsky.social has never seen it. I’m so excited.

I honestly thought we’d never see it.

And did not expect to be so emotional seeing Straub’s name on a new book.
The US cover to the new Stephen King & Peter Straub TALISMAN novel.

Just finished The Running Man (2025). Haven’t read the book since jr high but it seemed fairly accurate.

This is the most I’ve liked Glen Powell in something. I don’t normally DIS-like him, but I’m just not buying what he’s selling. He totally worked as a constantly boiling pot of rage.

Time for another #FolkHorrorFriday!

Lake of the Dead (1958)

Continuing to go through each film in the All The Haunts Be Ours box. I actually watched this a few years ago when I was stuck in my bedroom with Covid, but a lot of that stuff is just a blur. Excited for a revisit.

I haven’t officially announced it yet, but I’m working on a twin peaks podcast. It will have a weekly check-in with my friend who is watching for the first time.

It’s incredibly fun to just keep my mouth shut about questions or ideas they have, and see how someone new to the show processes it.

Can’t get back to sleep. Time for a movie!

#NowWatching Brother From Another Planet (1984)

Joe Morton was in Zelly & Me, and it reminded me that I’ve been meaning to see this one for literal decades.

2nd movie of the morning & I
I went to the pile of physical media I haven’t watched yet. Sudden Impact, the 4th Dirty Harry film & the only one directed by Eastwood.

My least favorite of the franchise so far. The films are always a bit iffy, politically, but this was just mean & icky.

Got the day off and gonna try to watch a movie or two.

#NowWatching Zelly & Me (1988). A mostly forgotten film. We’ve got Isabella Rossellini, a small role for David Lynch, and it’s written/directed by Tina Rathborne, who Lynch would tap to direct 2 episodes of Twin Peaks.

Time for some heady sci-Fi nonsense.

#NowWatching Parallel (2018). I’ve seen a few of Isaac Ezban’s films, and they all have great hooky plots that fall just shy of really being great.

Still I like them all, they’re fun Twilight Zone style exercises. This looks to follow that trend.

This one was a real oddity.

Motivational Growth (2013). A suicidal shut-in starts taking life advice from the fungus in his bathroom, which is voiced by Jeffrey Combs.

The plot owes a lot to Little Shop of Horrors, but with a much more cosmically odd flavor.

Last month I started jogging. 4 days a week or so, in increments so small they aren’t even worth mentioning. I felt like dying immediately that 1st day.

Today we had to carry bags of material up 4 flights of stairs, & I’m the only one who didn’t have to stop & catch his breath.

Small victories.
