Twin Peaks, horror, books, psychotronalia. He/him.
Post your favorite LOTR character. Wrong answers only.

“There he took up again his great Ring in Barad-dur, and dwelt there, dark and silent, until he wrought himself a new guise, an image of malice and hatred made visible; and the Eye of Sauron the Terrible few could endure.”

Starting off the morning with some cerebral sci-fi.

#NowWatching Ikarie XB 1. I saw this mentioned in a short documentary about Soviet fantasy and horror films, then two days later heard it discussed on the @purecinemapod.bsky.social.

Seems like a sign to me.

Share a 90s movie you think deserves more love.

The Woman Chaser (1999)

Based on a book by Charles Willeford (Miami Blues, Cockfighter), it’s a darkly funny noir-esque story of staying true to your artistic vision no matter what.

A really cool movie that for years was very hard to find.

Some movies were just made for viewing on Tubi while washing dishes.

#NowWatching Blackenstein (1973).

Look, the Blacula films are legitimately good, but I’m not expecting the same from this. Still, I am curious…

More from the Great Movie Haul! More Eastwood! More copaganda!

#NowWatching Dirty Harry.

The first and last time I watched this was in London 25 years ago. I don’t think I’ve seen any of the sequels so I’m looking forward to making my way through this set.

I’ve been off this week and almost posted this as #FolkHorrorFriday. It’s gonna be rough going back to work Monday.

Anyway, #NowWatching Witchhammer (1970)

A Czech film about brutal with trials in the last 1600s. Part of the All The Haunts Be Ours boxset.

Maybe time for one more horror movie before bed. I may not be able to finish it in one go, but that’s ok.

#NowWatching Deus Irae, from Argentina.

I know nothing about this, but it appears to be about exorcists, historically a genre that bores me to tears. Let’s see how this goes!

In the mood for a western, so I pulled another from the Great Movie Haul of 2025.

#NowWatching Unforgiven.

I haven’t seen this one since it was new, which seems crazy to me. I think at the time I was more of a Tombstone fan.

Time for another one from my physical media collection that I haven’t watched since I bought it. I gotta come up with a good hashtag for these.

#NowWatching The Dark Half. Not a very well respected entry in either Romero or King’s film canon, but I dig it.

Continuing from yesterdays viewing, #NowWatching The Unnamable 2, which incorporates elements from The Statement of Randolph Carter.

It’s too bad this is the last film. It would have been hilarious to see them attempt The Dream Quest of the Unknown Kadath with this budget and skill.

Full disclosure; that’s the slipcase for the Blu-ray. The original cover wasn’t quite so impressive, but it still caught my eye way back when.

Continuing to dig through the Great Movie Haul of 2025 with one I’ve never seen, despite it having an eye catching cover at the video store that I would repeatedly eye as a kid.

#NowWatching The Unnamable (1988).

Anyone seen it? Any good?

Alright, Bluesky! Spent most of the morning cleaning, now I’m taking a break. And by ‘break’ I mean doing food prep and watching some Shudder.

#NowWatching The Creep Tapes

I’m a bit mixed on these movies, but the half hour format is a PERFECT fit for this character. Looking forward to this season.

Indulged myself in a little bit of Japanese V-Cinema this morning.

Guzoo- the Thing Forsaken By God Part 1 (there is no part two).

A quartet of high school girls are beset by a slimy tentacle monster. It thankfully did not go where you might be thinking.

In total dad mode on my day off. Slow cooking a pork shoulder all day and #NowWatching (rewatching) True Grit (2010).

Jeff Bridges truly is phenomenal in the film, but this and Crazy Heart really just took over his career. He’s basically been Rooster Cogburn for the past 15 years now.

Zerograd (1988) is my movie to beat for ‘discovery of the year.’ A nightmarish comedy about the fall of the Soviet Union. Surreal, funny, sad, at times beautiful.

I’m sure a lot of the cultural references went over my head but what an experience!

Didn’t watch a lot this week. This is pretty much the holdovers from my Halloween weekend.

Extremely low effort meme from the archives, brand new to Bluesky.

Started hate-watching Welcome to Derry and… I kinda like it more than the movies? I’m not entirely sold- I don’t like Muschietti’s style and that military subplot is gonna drive me crazy- but the horror elements are some real sicko freak shit.

That’ll keep me coming back for now.
