I was folding laundry in the basement while dancing to Kylie Minogue, slipped on a towel because I was getting really into it, and broke my ankle. (I had to wear this huge clunky boot the whole 2008 postseason, which was HILARIOUS when we ran to Broad St. after the Phils won.)
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

I just discovered that there’s a company that sells LEGO-esque models of Mormon Temples. The company’s name is Brick ‘Em Young.

I’m still giggling. Well punned.

I hate these fuckers deep in my soul.

Why do they hate me personally?
The Phillies have hired Don Mattingly as bench coach on the major league coaching staff.

Welcome to Philly, Don!

This is good information to have (see the OP’s prior post in the thread for context) but is absolute bullshit that these have a reason to exist, and capitalism is a hellscape.

GOD DAMN IT WEGMANS. I don’t want to have to dress like the Invisible Man to buy some fucking cheese. (Roughly 60% of my Wegmans purchases are cheese.)

Fun story: @wing2j.bsky.social and I both had one Christmas gift that was arriving after Christmas.

Turns out we have two of these now. (We’ve been together for a quarter century; it was bound to happen eventually.)

My favorite game with my Museum Buddy Niece is picking out a painting at the Art Museum and having her figure out what the subjects were trying to show off. She’s getting good at it, just in time for the Surrealism exhibit to fuck her up.
While illuminated Psalters from the Middle Ages are certainly beautiful, the Morgan Library’s presentation of them as impacting the ordinary “men and women in medieval Europe” is inaccurate. In reality, these breathtakingly expensive manuscripts were tools of the elite.
Medieval Psalms Were Not For Everyone
An exhibition prioritizes the expensive, silent object over the lived, functional experience of the believer.

My mom named me after a character in The Thorn Birds and I have been annoyed about it since I was old enough to read The Thorn Birds.

This is so much worse, good gravy.

Little Women.
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

I think I’m most looking forward to ‘As I Lay Dying: The Musical!’
The cultural works becoming public domain in 2026, from Betty Boop to Nancy Drew
The original Betty Boop, the first four Nancy Drew books and Greta Garbo's first talkie are among the many works from 1930 that will be free to use, share and remake starting on Jan. 1.

Hamilton. You’re going to write a rap musical about the first Secretary of the Treasury? WHY?
musical theater parlor game

Please name one (1) stage musical, original or adaptation, you absolutely adore that, when you first heard about it, your immediate thought was "Oh, god, what a dreadful idea."

(Feel free to go beyond Broadway and the West End.)
