The week ahead feels stressful for me, but at least Seti feels no such thing as worry or anguish

Just under two months until he turns 16 officially🧡

My response to every “job offer” as of late. Would love to have actual clients again one day

I’m trying to collect a list for my college students of what working artists wish they had done and/or knew before post-grad or first year of really working as a freelancer or in-house artist

If you feel like passing that on here I would love to see it and share with them later this year!

Only cried once after finishing my tax prep. It is hard, really feels like every time you get a step ahead as a freelancer you get shoved back down
February 2, 2026 at 1:53 AM
Every year I have to greatly shift where my income comes from

It makes taxes harder, and today is another day dedicated to organizing those. It is also just one of those days where I don’t feel like I am where I should be by this age, but I guess I am just glad to be still be at it at all

Not the tech bros next to me at the coffee shop talking about their favorite AI assistant then moving on to their concerns about limited natural resources in the future/climate change

I’m going to be shutting my shop down for the day and providing links to places where you can put your money instead.

Do what you can, keep pushing

For those who have asked why I haven’t made art in a while: I’m a college instructor again! I have been teaching three courses for various levels of college students and my life has delved into curriculum and critique

Art will return one day!☀️

please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota.

people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

The thing that has been weighing on me so much with the violence in MN is how many times I've heard "if they minded their own business they'd be alive", which is such a weird isolationist mindset that I've seen grow over the last few years and now blossom in front of us

Saw this out and about

Resistance and resilience aren’t comfortable. The idea that it should be done or experienced in a way that doesn’t disrupt your life is incompatible with what it takes
January 25, 2026 at 7:00 PM
Only a few weeks ago I mentioned that people should not to tune out the world, that we owe each other our full attention. This was met with excuses, hyper specifics why one can’t. As every day goes by since I know that care, bare minimum, grows more important

Don’t you dare turn away from it

There's a video out there of ice lynching a man. Don't watch it. It will not help you or others to traumatize yourself.

Spend the time you would have spent watching it/wanting to vomit and scream making a donation to somewhere in Minnesota, or if you can't, researching where you can help locally.

Demonstrators as far as the eye can see. Current status of the march in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota for Ice Out of Minnesota. They are turning onto 3rd Street from 5th Avenue.

Making a quiz game out of scammy fake client emails vs real client outreach for students is actually very funny and cathartic

I have a very odd ability to always, unknowingly, sit next people on first dates when I’m at cafes and restaurants…which would be a curse if it didn’t allow me to overhear some of the funniest conversations I’ve ever encountered in my life
January 19, 2026 at 2:58 AM
My senior cat will walk over whenever I am talking to someone in my apartment and sit down facing us, taking time to look at whoever is talking, like he is a part of the conversation (which he is)

Yesterday was my first day back at teaching

Lesson plans have consumed my life, I’m no where near having them finished so art will have to wait for a bit!✌️

Will likely have a sale soon since my first paycheck is a far away and I haven’t been able to take on client work

Nothing like going to the doctor and suggesting the issue you have may stem from stress, and to have the doctor earnestly ask when the stress will end and you just have to look at her like 🤷‍♀️

To bond well enough with your baristas that they give you free drinks and remember updates on your life is truly the bright spot in life I needed

Everything is weird and terrible and yet, I can’t slow down at all. Back to teaching again soon
