No no, it’s actually easy to make it non-political: all you have to do is pivot the story to siding with the hostile society. Then you’re not being political, you’re just advocating for a return to normalcy/sanity. Nothing less political than that!
Sure, I'll write my story about trans lesbians navigating denial and realization in a hostile society 'non-political'. It's going to require the entire world to stop politicizing our existence first, though.

An alternate route for authors: give permission for a fan discord to be made about your work and just wait for like a day for some girl to decide she might as well go ahead and make the server (and attract the helicopters.) Congrats you now have a discord server!
the trick is to accidentally take over someone else’s discord server. that way, when the helicopters come, they are responsible and you can just post about it with everyone else
before you ask, I don’t want to be the kind of person that has a discord server. you start in on that and the next thing you know the ATF is surrounding your compound, and I don’t even have a compound

I got to say that I've never been 'attacked' by trans women for saying one of my characters is cis, but then again I don't think of trans women as a seething hysterical mob looking to tear cis women apart or whatever.

9 Sep 25 -- Detransitions among trans kids run about 1%, and many of those are due to social/familial rejection. But WSJ editorial page flogs one of the few we know of and ignores the tens of thousands helped by affirming care. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
