for instance: its been an hour since the treasury secretary said "nothing bad is happening" two weeks before a holiday when families will have higher costs, less to spend, and have probably been laid off. the democrats should be all over it. tweets denouncing it. releases mocking it. etc.

There have been at least 19 murders in D.C. since Trump deployed the National Guard here in August. One was the murder of a Guard soldier less than a week ago.
Trump: "Washington now is, uh, no murders. It's been a miracle."

Glad I got to become disabled in a world that already had Alice Wong @sfdirewolf.bsky.social in it. I learned so much from her incredible writing & activism. May her memory be a blessing, & may we all continue her work.

one last observation: donald trump has never won a majority of the vote and yet the political press treats him like the embodied spirit of the american people. will be interesting to see how they discount mamdani as representing new york if he wins less than a majority.

A thing that kills me about these posts is that when they believed there was a pandemic they ABSOLUTELY wanted others to take care of them. They railed against antimaskers and cheered for healthcare workers. And the second the threat to them, personally, lessened, they became diehard libertarians?

In any other context, imagine hearing about an adult zip tying children to each other. No really, what would you call that?
This raid is disgusting, abominable behavior, traumatizing children and families in their homes.

Violet Affleck is to the Covid movement what Greta Thunberg is to climate. Both represent the next generation, are articulate, focused, & grounded in science. That scares people. And there's a gendered aspect to all the vitriol they face

it may feel a little like homework, but i genuinely think people should read the lincoln-douglas debates to see what the practical politics of anti-slavery looked like in an environment where the public was neutral to hostile to the question of emancipation

Basically, their effort to portray Autism as preventable and curable is part of a larger project to eliminate anyone they see as costing society more than they contribute. And, short of that, to push those costs fully onto families and off of the state.

For everyone saying political violence has no place in this country…

Remember two Democratic legislators were shot in Minnesota just this year.

And America shrugged and moved on.

One thing that today is illuminating in a fundamental way is that political violence is only seen as bad if it affects one part of the population: White men of privilege.

Immunocompromised children are entitled to safe access to public education and yes that requires herd immunity-inducing vaccinations and precautions against respiratory diseases like Covid and yes that requires a tiny bit more effort, like building a wheelchair ramp requires some concrete.

I think people who haven’t been keeping track of covid truly have no idea how much vitriol and harassment disabled people have experienced regarding covid precautions the last few years, often from former community members, organizers, friends, family, strangers, etc.

pls mask in indoor organizing spaces. the exclusion of disabled ppl from covid-era society is a facet of fascism that cant be allowed in antifascist spaces. the pandemic, mass incarceration & state violence are all disabling. we’ll never win if everyone who gets disabled is excluded from organizing

Here is the truth about museums:

Museums are among the most trusted institutions in American society. Especially history museums.

Museums support over 700,000 jobs in the US.

Museums generate $50 billion in economic activity in the US every year.

Just the facts. That’s what we do. #museum

proof of what i've been saying forever

PEOPLE NEED TO BE SOLD ON THE IDEA OF GOVERNMENT

they have NO IDEA. NO! IDEA! what government does for them. NONE. NOT EVEN A LITTLE.

even i, spectacularly well-informed by most standards, didn't know jack about USAID.

Trump has made no comment. The White House has found the time to post a video of the arrest of that guy who threw a sandwich at a cop, but nothing about a cop killed defending the government's own employees.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, whose district includes parts of Atlanta, has also said nothing.
