I talk about this with my therapist constantly. How I want to build a Hobbiton of my friends and just live in a communal setting. Like, I don’t feel called to religious life except for the idea of living in community.
I love this. It's crazy, pretty much everyone I know, everyone I've ever talked to about it, craves some sort of more communal living. *Everyone.* And yet the US offers almost no models -- you have to build it from the ground up.

Signing up for an "event" that happens at four am my time, only to be sent a link to a pre-recorded, not at all live video at four am, is a bit of a gut punch. (Not naming because they're doing good work, but UGH do not like how they handled this one.)

Some things you can do. No one can do all these things, but most people can do at least one:
Feed people. There's work for you at Food Not Bombs or whatever you got going on where are.
Join a local cop watch, ICE watch, or rapid response group.
