I keep thinking, this is the week I was supposed to go home. My fam and I agreed it would be safer not to.

I am beyond sad that we were right.

This is the week I would have gone home, but didn't because I didn't know what the political situation would be like. I am very sad to say good move, past me.
In a Hitleresque speech, JD Vance says there can be no unity with the left and vows to use the government to dismantle non-profit NGOs and liberal civil society who he says promote violence and terrorism.

Waking up and getting a full day of US news at once is... a lot. Cheered to see people resisting, both there and against other regimes - no one will save us but us.

I talk about this with my therapist constantly. How I want to build a Hobbiton of my friends and just live in a communal setting. Like, I don’t feel called to religious life except for the idea of living in community.
I love this. It's crazy, pretty much everyone I know, everyone I've ever talked to about it, craves some sort of more communal living. *Everyone.* And yet the US offers almost no models -- you have to build it from the ground up.

Signing up for an "event" that happens at four am my time, only to be sent a link to a pre-recorded, not at all live video at four am, is a bit of a gut punch. (Not naming because they're doing good work, but UGH do not like how they handled this one.)

I document a lot of political street art - mostly stickers opposing various political figures - but this one, propped in front of a home in a residential neighborhood, took my breath away

Most timely throws from the outfield look like they have mustard on them, but this one floats in speedy like. Incredible.
This throw seems impossible... it just kept going

Age verification, Japan version? One of my jobs paid in cash, monthly.
Age verification? I used these at my job during college.

Friend found a postcard I sent them 20 years ago, during study abroad - so weird to think it was literally half a lifetime ago. I can say that my handwriting has improved, at least 😂

This is a brilliant thread of contextualization of this moment and what's praiseworthy about it amidst the atrocities.
I know we don't feel like there's much to celebrate this July 4th. It's been a rough several years.

So I want to talk about how we're making history right now.

Where is he? If we stop asking, stop demanding his return, we are complicit in his disappearance.
Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government.

No one has heard from you in 109 days.

As vigil, I’m posting a photo or video of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.

Ideas on where we can start - the small things are everything.
Some things you can do. No one can do all these things, but most people can do at least one:

Feed people. There's work for you at Food Not Bombs or whatever you got going on where are.
Join a local cop watch, ICE watch, or rapid response group.
Who's being targeted in your area? Have their back.

The Angels don't win every game, but they can win ANY game.

They just shut out the Yankees twice in a row - first time that's happened in the Bronx since 2015(!!) It's a joy to watch these young players come into their own. #RepTheHalo 😇

Also great for those of us not in the US right now 🙋🏻‍♀️
It’s hot AF, and some of us can’t handle heat because of disability etc. If you still want to do something protesty today here are some options
• Donate to an immigration org
• Find a queer person requesting mutual aid
• Read the work of an activist
• Go to an evening Pride or Juneteenth celebration

1. Trans troops are now being separated from their jobs, and we have learned what discharge code they are being given:

"JDK," a code that was used to remove communists and gay people, and can be seen as a "black mark" on their service.
