Jaylo spent a night at the vets because they wanted to do a CT scan but tbh the diagnosis remains the same.

Treatment demands multiple types of injections in multiple joints on both front legs with little chance he will be pain free by spring, and treatment will be frequent and forever.

Sorry for the late upload, this week’s podcast is now live. We discuss Constable vs Turner, Caravaggio (and for some reason, rats in art 🐀).

Collision regs test for Pool of London
When I think of artist Rowland Hilder’s work I think of winter scenes of rural Kent.
But I also love his London landscapes

MRI for his tootsie's on Monday.

Shoes will have to come off, so Farrier for high heels and fancy pads on Tuesday.

Yesterday it was announced that the greatest dressage horse of all time, Valegro had been put to sleep alongside his former teammate. fellow Olympic gold medallist and absolute best mate, Uthopia. I cried so much I gave myself eye eczema. Anyway, behold, the Lionel Messi of dressage.

Problems that cannot be solved by proposal to do without juries at trial
Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

Bizarre
It's December 1st - which means I get to share weird and wonderful Victorian Christmas cards, starting with one that looks straight out of #StarWars. @markhamillofficial.bsky.social, is that you?

Just look at those blokes sitting in huge saddles on their robust, short backed ponies

Good morning! Gathering for the hunt in front of an inn within the ruins, because that's just how it was in 1650s Italy. Or so we are assured by Jan Miel, whose day is today.

My current joy is Stephen Donaldson: The Mirror of her Dreams
I get the 'failure to concentrate ' problem. I'm so much older and yet it happens to me.

To remedy it I pick up favourite novels and re visit the pleasures of being consumed by a good story and writing.

I'm glad I have them to fall back on, but it's only possible after a long lifetime of reading.
I am forever explaining assignments which, to me, feel fairly basic. I do offer some creative options, which need a bit more context. But so many of my students seem unable to follow instructions, even when I return to them multiple times, write them down, or turn them into games or quizzes.

Darts on the other hand?

My dad told me they were amazing on stage.
Mull of Kintyre was the best-selling single of the 1970s and the worst piece of shit Wings ever wrote.

People keep telling me the 1970s were great, but clearly, those people were not there. #TOTP

More gloom.
Vet wants to do an MRI to rule out soft tissue injury but he's not confident that will happen.

This is a seriously expensive diagnostic
Not a great day 😢

Osteoarthritis in multiple joints on 3 legs + poor liver function.

Anyone need a pretty but expensive lawnmower?

I wish I was surprised. Buried in this Budget is a plan to slash the Digital Services Tax, giving a multi-billion tax cut to US tech giants and the likes of Elon Musk.

That's right, cutting taxes for the world's richest man while hiking them for millions of hard-working Brits.

Look at the least popular item and ask yourself who YouGov were polling. Was it a group which reflects all UK tax payers?
Fascinating that the cash ISA limit is the most unpopular item in the budget. I would have thought it would be unpopular but not more so than e.g. freezing tax thresholds.

If you have DVDS then try watching a dubbed foreign film in the original language with subtitles
If you want to stop doom scrolling on an evening watch subtitled foreign TV programmes, often much better than a lot of the current English language dross being served up and reading the subs means you can't read your phone at the same time.
