#Museum30 theme 17 is #making. There have been mills making things in Dunblane since 15th century. By 1800 most were spinning & weaving yarn & wool. Hand loom weaving was chief industry of Dunblane, manufacturing town of some importance before invention of power looms…/👇

The John Aitken Memorial Fountain at Govan Cross in Glasgow. It was erected in 1884 as a memorial to Govan's first medical officer, serving between 1864 and his death aged just 41 in 1880.

Ancient meets modern. The Huly Hill Cairn and what is left of its stone circle are cut by the interchange at which the M8 and M9 motorways meet and are under the final approach to Edinburgh Airport. The cairn dates back to about 2500BC. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

The superbly remote Loch Arkaig in Lochaber, said to be the hiding place of a hoard of gold coins landed by the French at Loch nan Uamh in late April 1746 in support of the (by then already failed) Jacobite rising. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...
