Trump's pardon of allies who helped him try to subvert the 2020 election is important. It's a permission slip--no, it's an encouragement, even an order--to allies to be ready to try to subvert the elections in 2026, and 2028.

A definite NO.
Advocates say Proposition 12 an overdue strengthening of Texas' judicial accountability systems.

But opponents worry it will give Gov. Greg Abbott undue power over the judicial branch, politicizing what is supposed to be an independent body.
Judicial conduct proposal raises concerns about Abbott overreach
Proposition 12 would allow the governor to appoint a majority of the commission that disciplines judges, as Abbott condemns “activist judges.”

Wait, did they edit an interview? Did they not air every second?

I heard that’s grounds for a multimillion lawsuit
I see that CBS chose not to air this part. It probably explains much of what they did decide to air.

University professors are now supposed to teach “balance” instead of progressive ideas. But conservatives today reject science (check HHS).

‘Gutter thugs’ seems an upgrade for these lawless sewer maggots.
the one part of this awful video I found inspiring is the moment when the cam pans back and you see an array of upstanding Americans with their smartphones out filming these gutter thugs. that's really the symbol of the opposition. the smartphone and its embedded video cam.
Here’s a disturbing video from Evanston of a federal agent hitting a man on the ground as people yell that he can’t breathe.

I've given my new Senator a lot of shit on here. But I don't think anyone with power has laid out the stakes of what we're facing as clearly as she does right here.

And if she's saying this, it's because she feels she must.

Several hundred kids, many with parents, mostly brown and Black, all in costumes flooded our neighborhood tonight. ICE would call it invasion. We called it great fun.

Can there be an American conservatism without racism? I once thought so, but if so it appeals to only a small percentage of those who call themselves conservatives.

I’m sorry, if someone has a birth certificate that proves they were born here but a mobile app with face recognition software disagrees, they will side with the app?

What?
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

I feel the same way. He knew of the historical damage Trump was planning to do. Or he is a complete incompetent. Or both
Update: today I mailed a letter to the incoming CEO of T-Mobile US, conveying my anger at the company’s decision to contribute to the corrupt destruction of the White House East Wing and alleged construction of a supposed ballroom. That contribution has nothing to do with T-Mobile’s core business,
Do you know Mike Sievert? He's CEO of T-Mobile, one of the corporate contributors to T*rump's White House East Wing destruction and alleged ballroom construction. I am a customer of this company, but scrambling to find ways to ditch it. Corporate America is rotten.

Great!
The skinny white luxury tower at 432 Park Avenue is disintegrating due to the developer's insistence that the concrete be pure white, which weakens it (strengthening elements add colour)

This feels so historically fitting right now: insist on pure white, & your whole edifice cracks

Yes, King was attacked from the left for his nonviolence in the face of brutal beatings, and by successful Black businessmen for upsetting the apple cart. He was attacked by Hoover, the FBI, and many whites for being a “communist.” It’s the way social movements work.
The way in which standardized history has papered over the Movement to make it look like a popular movement seen as good and righteous at the time is a travesty.

It took YEARS for people to support the Movement writ large.

OK. It’s rank corruption.
Call this what it is: rank corruption.

Major corporations funding a president's vanity project is a textbook model for pay-to-play. Why else would tech giants, crypto firms, and defense contractors care about a 90,000 sq ft ballroom?
