"The Sinister Truth About Starmer’s Rise to Power" - dark money behind the UK PM

Ash Sarkar interviews Paul Holden about his book which seems pretty well-researched. I'm glad they touch on Morgan McSweeney, the Grima Wormtongue of Starmer's office www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-0l...

Update: Re.centre has a new post that's less concerning than the first one. But it begs the Q: if they're not down with the deregulatory neoliberal direction we're now calling Abundance, why did they give it air in the first place?

Is the org having an internecine fight over Abundance, or..?

What on earth is this? Really? Guys, we just spent all year picking apart the whole concept of “abundance” (neoliberal deregulation & trickledown framed as some new source of prizes for us all). Now it’s touted by a group wanting to supply tools & messaging for many enviro groups?

Just say no.

"It's Not Just You - The iOS Keyboard is Broken"

We've been complaining about this in so many of my chats, and Android users are always (rightly) smug about it. Apple keyboard and autocorrect are trash, and getting worse.

If so, it seems what's needed is a more honest reckoning with the fact that capitalist control over production and government ultimately prevents us from ending human deprivation, inequalities, ecological breakdown and war, or at minimum will radically slow our progress toward these goals.

As usual, those with zero agency are being hit the hardest by our society's callous public health decisions.
Infants younger than six months old get hit the hardest with respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, making up almost half of all patients hospitalized for the illness in Canada, according to a new study. @michellegamage.bsky.social reports.

As a former New Yorker on the ground during the Cheney years, and a writer, I endorse this message
I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.

That’s the end of the courageous political takes from Teen Vogue. It has been such a beacon for many so this is fairly tragic. Looks like they fired ALL the political staffers and removed the politics beat.

Who leaned on Condé Nast? Or what happened?
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

BC has been subsidizing a largely US lumber industry for decades via low stumpage rates (royalties) & more, yet the companies keep closing mills because they've cut virtually all the old growth, & also their plantations in the US grow faster than the firetrap monocultures they replanted here #bcpoli

This is a great point. There's so much resistance to increasing ventilation/air purification in classrooms to lower levels of Covid & other illnesses for kids & staff, & so much resistance to masking in healthcare

BUT they'll get busy ventilating chicken barns against avian flu
