I am hopeful that some of these trials will yield treatment options for patients with long COVID.

How is this ok?

A home combo test was able to identify a family member's case of Influenza A, and they were able to get a Tamiflu Rx early. Check that "cold" early to see if it's more than that!

Seasonal flu taking the lion's share by a large margin.

This has been an exceptionally difficult and frightening week. Check in with the people around you. You never know who might need that kindness.

Just came back from a work trip to Asia. I love how many masked people were in Tokyo, and to a lesser extent Seoul. Half the people on the train in Tokyo were masked. Back home, I only saw two other masked families out today in Minneapolis even with the COVID / flu / RSV going around.

"Dr. Vernon and her team determined that new incidence cases of ME/CFS were 15 times higher than pre-pandemic levels.

These findings provide additional evidence that infections, including those caused by SARS-CoV-2, can lead to Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS)."

For those not familiar with ME/CFS, this is a good intro overview. There are also very good more detailed accounts and research, but this is a nice digestible high-level intro summary we shared with extended family members who thought having long covid just meant a loss of taste or smell.

Covid infection can cause lasting cognitive impairment, memory issues, clinical anxiety and depression, obsessive behaviour, brain fog, PTSD-like symptoms, insomnia, increased risk of psychosis, mood swings, heightened stress responses.

And that's just a taste.

I was asked this question on the other, less pleasant, platform. Basically: what drugs to I recommend for mitochondrial dysfunction. Here is my response (🧵): 1/

I mask to protect myself, my family, and my community. Off to replenish my stock from @bonafidemasks.bsky.social! ☺️😷
Masking isn't submission—it's an assertion of autonomy. Masking is choosing to protect your health and wellbeing on your own terms. Masking is not just smart—it's empowering.

Feels like a good time for a thread about all things exercise for people living with infection (and exposure)-associated complex chronic illnesses (IACCs) such as #MECFS, #LongCOVID and chronic #Lyme /tick- and vector-borne illness. Let’s start with a trip down memory lane.
