the only way i can make any sense of it is to view it as the mother of sunken cost fallacies—ie a collective wishful thinking gets eagerly reflected back & sold to you by your govt, public health & media. to admit you’ve been duped means asking “what have i done to myself? my loved ones? my *kids*?”
