A former UK prime minister held responsible for tens of thousands of deaths while the US president calls for elected politicians to be hanged.

A jolt of a reminder that law and policy are ultimately about life and death.

And politicians are often not up to dealing with such things.

The Covid inquiry’s findings are shocking but unsurprising now, so the main thing it left me thinking is that without a vaccine we wd’ve been utterly screwed. & if you worked round the clock to make a thing that saved millions of lives globally, to see that legacy trashed by anti-vaxxers…

Anderson gets the biggest laugh in the Commons, accusing Labour of 'dog whistle' politics, as Reform 'get on with the job'. Demanding that Starmer 'be a man' over DOGE nonsense is a bit odd too, as then Tory, 30p Lee was once too scared to leave the House as L'bour were outside laughing at him #PMQs

Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

Ah the 1970s.

Stagflation, three day weeks, collapsing infrastructure. Civil War in Northern Ireland. In yer face racism and bigotry everywhere. Bin strikes. Strikes in general. Blackouts. Industrial decline. Wage inequality. Dog crap everywhere. And households spent 25% of their income on food.

Over the years social housing stock has been sold, real wages cut, profiteering unchecked, local council funding cut.

Liverpool has 12,764 households on its social housing waiting list. It has just five "additional social rent dwellings".

What is the govt doing?

Watch the Minister's reply.

Food triggers nationalists. Really peculiar thing. Because I dared to point out in my first book that 1970s British cuisine broadly wasn't up to much, I had this group of really angry Brexit people on my case for about a year. The very mention of avocados seemed to send the poor dears off the edge.

UK energy standing charge plan could backfire.

Exorbitant standing charges hurt low users.

Regulator plans a new tariff - low standing charge & higher cost of each unit.

That won't do. Energy companies made £514bn operating profit since 2020.

Better to end profiteering, nationalize energy.

It's so common. Unfortunately, one of them is the leader of the opposition.
There are many people like this, who act like human PowerPoints because they never actually do the reading on *anything* the moment they’re out of college and no one can enforce it anymore.
one of my takeaways from this great piece is that weiss just doesn’t…sound like an intelligent person? or at least, not someone who has thought even a little bit about how and why they think the things that they do. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gieT...
