As a disabled person, it's disheartening to see one of the foundational pushers of alt text, a Black STEM voice, a queer advocate, and a huge voice for the disabled community gone over a poor taste joke.

“But there are carve outs for health necessity” y’all a woman was just arrested at the No Kings march because she didn’t have a doctor’s note confirming her medical exemption and refused to take her mask off. Literally the mask bans turn into “show us your papers” evil.
New York City (and state) have both expressed interest in mask bans.
These discriminatory ugly laws put lives at risk.
They exclude disabled people from public spaces while increasing police harassment of marginalized individuals.

Last year, I donated a massive box of RPG books to a local prison.
One of my best friends from high school is a prison librarian & he says RPGs are extremely sought after but very rarely donated, so if you have any unused RPG manuals you don't need consider donating them.

Don't listen to politicians who lie and say they need mask bans to address hate. There's zero evidence they do this, and in reality they do the opposite. People of color are more likely to wear masks and more likely to be targeted by police. Mask bans are racist policies.

I also think another part is that people tend to believe they are "good people" who "do what is right" so I think a lot of people are struggling to start masking again because it would mean they have made decisions that probably killed someone in the last 4 years for their own temporary comfort.

My mother is PHD level epidemiologist who works at a high level at a state health dept. A couple years ago when there was a push to get everyone to stop masking in the middle of the deadliest wave of the pandemic/original omicron wave, my mother joined right in. She was asked by another (1/2)
"They're all out to get you" is a deeply reactionary view. The vast majority of epidemiologists at the CDC are liberals and leftists doing their best in an extremely challenging context. Their mistakes mostly come from political naivete or messaging incompetence, not indifference or malice.

One of our staunches advocates is currently in the ER with a ruptured gastric tube. But it’s the interventional radiologist’s day off or something, so she’s apparently just supposed to sit there quietly with her stomach falling out of her body.
