I couldn't read when I was younger and I've been wondering for a couple of years if there is a way for me to find out if either school I went to at the time used three-cueing 🤔
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

as always, every day is a good day to cancel your new york times subscription
every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

God I'm so fucking mad right now. I would love to just have a day where I'm not poisonously mad 😭

Since I'm not a constituent of any of these Senators, and they don't care to listen to me, I'm going to email every single one I've donated who is still in office for a refund. Probably won't get much back, but in this moment it's the only message I can send.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Primaries are much, much easier to influence than the general election. People checking out from that process is one of the reasons we're stuck with such losers. We gotta support good primary candidates and support them early.

"What do you have to say about the capitulation that you participated in?"

Cory Booker clearly wasn't expecting the pushback he got from @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social

A lot of the comments mention people changing eating habits or shifting to beans. The food inflation situation sucks for everyone and is extra shitty for folks who can't change or shift their diets very much or at all due to medical conditions / GI issues / food issues / allergies etc.
I basically don't buy meat unless it's on clearance now. A pound of 80/20 is $7. And it's just not a story. Every disaster becomes a natural one when the chuds are in charge.

I've always held people accountable / been a huge hater to people based on how they've treated other people, especially my friends. Took me a long time to realize most people don't /won't do that, and it's led to a lot of disappointment and heartbreak in my relationships for me.
Several months ago, I learned that a friend I had met because of similar academic interests was planning to co-write a book with an aggressive and vocal bigot on X. When I asked, “Why publish with someone who constantly demeans other people that way?” the response was “Well, he’s always nice to me.”

Whether they're blaming vaccines and Tylenol, or selling dubious "remedies," what they're really doing is promoting the perception that families (and especially mothers) can prevent and treat Autism. And thus also the perception that people with Autism and their families don't need social support.

Everyone involved in today's announcement is scum, but I don't understand why so many people are uncritically repeating the Dr. Oz folinic acid theory that seems completely made up??

Why are we assuming that other countries with good healthcare systems don't have patients who are dissatisfied with their care? The chronic illness folks I follow and interact with online get terrible care from every country in the world, even those most Americans would kill to have access to.
This is similar to the myth that health conspiracism is driven by dissatisfaction with the American healthcare system. Countries with the best healthcare systems in the world also have very large anti-vaxx movements! In both cases the problem is more closely related to information environments.
The myth that racism is primarily driven by economic conditions must die, especially on the left. It is a misdiagnosis and a kind of excuse

Really hoping @georgemonbiot.bsky.social will take a look at this. Really shocking article from the Guardian accusing people of mass hysteria with no evidence (and quoting the usual suspects)

20 people I follow here are following this guy who is promoting the concept of mass hysteria (even using the term hysteria!) in 2025. He even applied it to a current event with zero evidence or information. And was subsequently proven incorrect and he refuses to even acknowledge that. Unbelievable.

The one adult Catholic convert I've known is legitimately one of the worst people I've ever known and a complete sociopath.
I like Catholics just fine. Adult Catholic converts, however, are almost uniformly authoritarian weirdos obsessed with implementing non biblical hierarchies into society. None, not one of them, is on “my” team

Random thing I learned in @51st.news today: There's apparently competitive Pokémon, and one of the world's best players lives in D.C. and basically makes the game his career. (I feel like maybe I took the wrong path at some point.) Behold: 51st.news/wolfe-glick-...

Wolfe Glick has made a full-time career out of competing and streaming about the video game.

Says the MFer who is going to end up being one of the largest mass murderers of all time 😡
Tech oligarchs oppose the idea of any supposedly undeserving person getting financial help from the government in 2025. But they want you to believe they’ll give *everyone* free money in the future.

It doesn’t make any sense, but it’s the techno-utopian lie they will keep selling.

genocide boss babe really thought she slapped with this
I recently looked up the Arabic translation of some of the names of the emaciated children used in coverage of the alleged famine in Gaza.

It turns out that many of them were sick before the war and have long, complicated medical histories. Our reporting shows they do not represent the average.
