If you’re thinking, “operator, I need an exit” — because you’re trans & live in the US — this a great resource.
-= We hoped we never had to do this but here we are and we now have to do this. =-

American trans humans are under threat and like in 1930s Germany, they now have to GTFO of their home country.

We have decided we need to collect some information on the possible ways out.

So we made a wiki.

1. The Trump administration has just quietly updated the State Department website to indicate that it may invalidate transgender people's passports.

This comes a week after a SCOTUS ruling blocking lower rulings allowing trans people to update them.

It literally never was. I suggested to some other NCMEC Board members when I was there that we should push back on the wrongful use of “groomer” to describe non-pedophiles. The answer, from Rich Kolodziej, NCMEC Board member: “we aren’t here to protect Democrats”.
If you were concerned about teachers “grooming” kids by acknowledging the existence of LGBTQ people, but you’re fine with the GOP hiding the Epstein Files and a president whose name is all over them, you’ve acknowledged what the rest of us have always known….

It was never about protecting. kids.

Living in Netherlands for most of 2025, it’s been difficult to explain American politics to Europeans — the U.S. middle might be further right than even the far-right parties here.

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.

Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

Years after transitioning & rebooting my career, I’m still sometimes caught off guard by two things:

(1) how often people willfully ignore my technical feedback, but engage with the same comments from men

(2) how often people can’t believe that other people would ever do #1
This is the worst, honestly. If I ever mention gibibytes I have to explicitly also call out that it’s not gigabyte and that yes I’m using the right word, I know what I’m talking about, the difference matters, etc etc

I didn’t have to do that shit pre transition. A simple “nah I meant gb” was fine
For sure an annoying part of being a woman is that whether I say gb or gib someone is going to think I don't know what I'm talking about

Talking to trans women in tech can help anyone who doubts that women experience the world differently; they can provide you with A/B before/after results.

Treat all women in tech better and believe them about their experiences:

This is why if you learn nothing else for evidence literacy, learn to look up survey items and read them for yourself and think about how someone might interpret them.
Poll: Americans say “too divided”
Pundit: Dems are being too divisive

Poll: Legal system unfair
Pundit: The public thinks Trump should get away with crimes

Poll: Low trust in media
Pundits: MSM is too far left

Every time they see a nonspecific term and assume everyone thinks like a Republican.
I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."

Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.
