If it has not done so already, NATO needs to wake up fast to the growing UK-shaped gap in its plans.

In August I wrote of dashed hopes for the new Labour government. Today, Julian Lindley-French - www.linkedin.com/pulse/new-br... - writes of how the gap with serious NATO allies is widening fast.

I vividly recall waiting excitedly to the Top 40 on a Sunday in February ‘81, to record ‘this week’s number 12’ on my new tape deck - then playing it almost on repeat. Fade To Grey kickstarted my 45-year journey into electronic music - thank you @rustyegan.bsky.social - Steve Strange RIP

‘Something happened that I can’t describe’ last night when I dug out this CLASSIC at Hoxton Cabin… a spine-tingling moment playing Sheryl Lee Ralph’s 1984 track In The Evening. Also in my oldskool set were gems from Shèna, Kim English, FPI Project among others… loving getting back on the 1210s!

When we say that pride events must go back to their roots and serve the community first and foremost, not prioritise hetero pop stars from the 90s and groups of straight girls on a jolly; The Manchester Pride debacle is a prime example.
Amateurs...

It always ends up this way when organisers get too big for their boots and Pride starts to be a professional music festival with some gays stuck on the end.

Hopefully the bars will do their own thing next year and it'll be all the better for it.

Thoughts, @jasonreiduk.bsky.social ?

Ever since I finished Question Time, Reform have massively been on the attack.

Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.

Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.

This detailed demolition of @gullyfoyleuk.bsky.social's "75 Brexit Benefits" by @alanbeattie.bsky.social deserves wider circulation.

Intellectual garbage disposal is a valuable public service!
OK, let's take this seriously. I had an odd half an hour and via Apple Books had a quick look at the three claims I knew most about - two re the post-Brexit bilateral preferential trade agreements replicated from the EU versions and one about cheaper bananas. All are wrong or wildly implausible. 1/n

What an admirably clear statement from the Jewish Leadership Council, especially when all of those involved must surely have been dealing with so many other urgent challenges in safety, security and grief + shock today before having this further divisive and distracting intervention to address too.

Convinced that most British people want to live in a functioning, decent country where government improves stuff and everyone can thrive.

The vast majority want nothing to do with this imported hate and atmosphere of violence directed at people just trying to live their lives.

Really depressing but not unsurprising to hear and see commentators across the networks scramble to weaponise the terrible events and loss of life in Manchester yesterday.

Maybe they could give it a day off and actually mourn the victims.

A hideous, and for traumatised British Jews profoundly unhelpful, expression of allyship & agreement with a violent, racist, serial criminal & former member of an avowedly anti-Semitic organisation from the *Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs* and so, as Sunder says, the Israeli government. 1/3
This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

Yes, they might.

People say "autism never used to exist" and then you go to the Natural History Museum and the exhibit has a caption like "Born in 1762, The Revd [name] was famously irascible, steadfast in his routine, and dedicated his life to collecting 25,000 rare beetle specimens".
Fundamentally, the headbanging Right doesn't believe Autism (or ADHD) exists. Or in so far as it does exist, a human conspiracy has created it.

We're back to their core outlook that 'It didn't exist back in the good old days so can't exist now.'

'It must just be some modern woke Marxist nonsense'.

The “Tylenol-Autism-link” push makes sense as part of a broader campaign against expertise, which benefits those whom any expert would recognize as frauds. This translates broadly across domains. The reliance on Generative AI and attacks on academia are also part of that trend.
