‘Something happened that I can’t describe’ last night when I dug out this CLASSIC at Hoxton Cabin… a spine-tingling moment playing Sheryl Lee Ralph’s 1984 track In The Evening. Also in my oldskool set were gems from Shèna, Kim English, FPI Project among others… loving getting back on the 1210s!

Sheer joy to perform a short vinyl-only set at Hoxton Cabin Open Decks on Thursday, mixing classic house from Helicopter, Lionrock, Tom Novy, Harry Romero, K Klass and 80s HiNRG from Phylis Nelson…

My half-hour DJ set at Queer Open Decks at Dalston Superstore this week, based around the evening's theme of music in other languages, blended pop, 80s synth, early afro house and cabaret, with tracks in French, Mandinka, Spanish, Italian - and one half in English...

A 10k walk around Castleton, Derbyshire, in the Peak District - up Mam Tor via the ‘broken road’, once a stretch of the A625 linking Sheffield to Manchester, abandoned in 1979 due to land slips (see arrow). Breezy and busy on top, but splendid views of the Edale Horseshoe nonetheless.

A wonderful ride through Epping Forest today, stopping off to see the ancient Celtic earthwork fort of Ambresbury Banks, and a refreshing pint of Adnams Broadside at the half way point. Hornbeam, birch and beech trees budding, though the paths very dusty and streams low, with no rain for weeks!

We reach Tilbury and get the train home at sunset… some final shots of the river with the path almost at water’s edge… an educational and exhilarating day out!

Thurrock Thameside Wildlife Reserve will cover 800ha of reclaimed land, formerly landfill, with plans for extended woodland; just upstream from the Gateway container port, its marshes attract a wide variety of birds that migrate from far away.

Highlights from our 23km Essex Thames estuary walk, from Stanford le Hope via Mucking Marshes, Coalhpuse Fort to Tilbury- tidal marshes, nature reserves, and industry between two big ports:

Happy World Book Day? Every day should be a book day! Read against the machine, not rage against it: for democracy to flourish, you will need to understand the issues to argue down bad ideas with better ones - a job for us all, lest we succumb to American dystopia. Some ideas for you in the pic:

Well Indeed, but I’ll have to leave the Aalborg for another day this morning as I have a big workout to do….my pre gym fuel right now 😀

Curiously, my modest newspaper archives have more information than the hottest new tech on the planet. Here’s an article from my copy of The Times, 10 November 1989, also mentioning the person responsible

Failure to invest in defence and support Ukraine is the biggest threat to Europe. Only a determined anti-European would not see that - though your hysterical, infantile response to this factual observation on my channel makes me suspicious.

Blocked for such stupidity.

Thanks Niall, and those comments are appalling.

By the way - I must also, sadly, draw to your attention, that you have some rather unhinged accounts that follow you - eager to seek and cause offence at the slightest (justified) criticism as this astonishing screenshot shows just now.

For added amusement, I came across an old copy of Hannan’s book on freedom, published c 2013 - check out Boris Johnson’s endorsement on the back:

By the way - as well as Giles’s latest book, also consider reading the preceding’Russia’s War On Everyone’ (2022) which explains the severity of Russia’s long-standing anti-West campaign, from propaganda to assassinations etc. (Other books I’ve been reading recently in pic, all worth your time)

Reported accordingly. Belated Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025 Niall. Greetings from a deserted Kinder Scout (sunrise today)!

Majestic morning on top of Kinder Scout’s southern edge via Ringing Roger and Grindslow Knoll - now time for breakfast!

An overcast Christmas Morning here in the woods, Skåne, southern Sweden. Soggy beech and oak leaves underfoot around the still lake, the moss rich with colour, standing out in dull brown surroundings… A refreshing start to festivities!

Very best Christmas wishes to you all!

A lovely view by the way. And You will certainly love Old Oak Common when it’s finished (and when we are re-integrated, just imagine how connected this will be with the rest of the EU….) ‘watch this space’ 😬

Views over Paris on Saturday morning from the Sacre Cœur - today’s weather overcast however!

I would say: defence, defence, defence at the moment Niall. It’s Europe Alone and we need to defend those values - Russia and it’s axis is at war with us because of them. We need to wake up. Urgent reading - only Eastern Europe gets it:

If BlueSky is just populated by the left-centre, it won’t help: hearing opposing views makes us interrogate our opinions and reasoning - so quality engagement happens here, not earning money for Musk. What’s not to love! Tom Paine’s famous appeal to Reason is relevant:
