This database would give Musk detailed technical specifications of every system, detailed pricing and delivery schedules, and information on any confidential government investigations into every other U.S. defense firms. Conflict of interest does not get bigger than this.

“They thought Trump was going to implement the tariffs, which he did very briefly, and then they were all halted where he seemed to get cold feet.

Who knows what will happen with that? There's a reason we haven't really talked about tariffs, but Democrats were hyped on it.”

“You can't signal to them, ‘Oh, we'll let you do this to the ones that are less politically popular.’ You can't signal that to them. That's insane.

Democrats are always over learning the last lesson they think they learned, are just like, tweeting about eggs and shit.”

Here's a quick piece I wrote up on how to understand DOGE as a very blatant attempt at procurement capture, a simple way of making government spending corrupt to benefit the tycoons. Please do pass it along & share any feedback! www.anildash.com/2025/01/04/D... (Thx for the nudge to write it!)

This idea has reached even more mainstream economic writers, as this fun (but terrifying) Krugman article on the insular culture of some billionaires in tech.

I've worried about this for some time.
