I will never, ever, understand people who want to outsource their humanity. Learning how to make something feels amazing. And I mean the whole process, including the frustrating times. Because then you know you MADE it. You can't feel genuine pride in something you didn't make.

Yeah. We do own too much stuff. But not owning anything makes you a serf.

The whole of my life, the anti consumerist, anti corporate, anti capitalist message was that we all “owned too much stuff”. But it turns out that owning stuff can actually be both a comfort and a rebellious act, because making you rent it keeps you on a much shorter leash, at their whim.

The new Half Japanese album is really good! They sound amazingly fresh for band who formed in 1974. Jad Fair is in that category of "enthusiasm kept me young".

Hollywood died today. This deal is catastrophic for cinema and has wide reaching implications.

Fuck Netflix, Zaslav & their fucking "Content".

Autism isn’t linear, it doesn’t “get worse” or “go away.” What changes is how life’s pressures interact with it, how much energy you have to mask, and whether you’ve got support that matches you.

Tom Waits' album "Rain Dogs"is 40 years old today. (He is hands down my favorite lyricist, probably even over Dylan.) I played that cassette to death my first year of college when I was venturing out into this new city of fog, the ocean and beautiful Victorians.

TikTok is putrid enough without his endorsement. It makes television look quaint and harmless. Where did the media jammers go? I get that it seems futile to resist this bullshit, but we need to fight it with everything we can.
Netanyahu briefed American influencers today - TikTok is the "most important" weapon in securing Israel's right-wing support.

X is crucial too. “Musk is not an enemy, he's a friend. We should talk to him."

“Weapons change over time... the most important ones are the social media.”

I’m glad David Lynch got to make Twin Peaks: The Return & Martin Scorsese got to make Silence, given recent history/current climate in cinema. Watched/read quite a few recent Scorsese interviews & it’s been moving to see how he’s facing his mortality. There’s so much to still do & say in this life 🙏🏻

Starmer’s desperate rush for digital IDs is a recipe for repression
ID cards won’t reduce migration and will put trans rights at risk. But that’s not the biggest cost of Starmer’s half-baked scheme, says Cat MacLean.

Compulsory ID will put far too much power in the hands of the Government. Even if you think you can trust Starmer (?!) just consider for a moment how a Tory or Reform Government would abuse that power.

Labour's ID Cards Act was defeated nearly 20 years ago. This can be defeated too.

Labour think people want them to be 'tough' on immigrants. But they may get a shock when more and more people realise that this won't stop with marginalised people - this agenda will undermine everyone's rights.
