Back to work... ✅

It's been an excellent first week back in parliament after mat leave but difficult leaving the wee one.

We need to be doing more to support mums across the country back into the work place.

Not sure why John has made up that I have a "first preference."

In fact I've repeatedly said - including to the Independent - it's not my role to pick the future Labour leader.

I'm focused on growing the Green Party.

Not convinced people should be allowed to make things up and publish them....

When maternity leave ends, there is an expectation that you will simply go back to work, organise childcare, and it will all fall into place. But for a lot of new parents, it isn’t that simple, writes Gillian Mackay ✍️

Scottish Green MSPs have used budget negotiations to deliver free bus travel for young people, scrap peak rail fares, fund nature restoration, expand free school meals and more.

Labour have campaigned for nothing and achieved nothing.

Reform are driving hate and division in our communities.

We can't allow that to happen.

Life has become much harder for many folks across Scotland.

But the scapegoating and false promises from a millionaire-backed party will change nothing for the better.

Families are being caught by thousands of pounds in hidden childcare charges, simply because of where and when their child was born.

We're working to deliver free childcare to all children from the day they turn three years old.

Paul Singer, whose firm owns the US subsidiary of Venezuela's state-owned oil company, spent millions in 2024 to re-elect Trump.

Now, after Trump's invasion of Venezuela on behalf of Big Oil, he's set to cash in on his investment.

A government of, by, and for the billionaires.

All power to the @nujofficial.bsky.social members taking action today, not just to protect their own jobs but to defend the value of regional news services people can trust. In an age of disinformation, these cuts are all the more damaging.

Greens are demanding that next year’s Scottish Budget properly funds Councils to provide funded childcare hours from the Monday after a child turns three.

This is a simple fix that will save young families money and support local services.

When I first called for this in November the response from Scotland fans was overwhelming.

I'm delighted the FM has backed the @scottishgreens.org proposal and we can all celebrate the Tartan Army’s success.

This is an incredibly weak response from the EU, and a dangerous position to take.

Maduro's legitimacy is not the issue at hand. The US is acting as a rogue state, and will embolden other states to use unchecked military power for their own ends.

We need international law, not gangsterism.
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)
