The first things I do when added to a new group chat are
1. Check who all else is in there
2. Text the person who added me to ask who the unknown numbers are

So not a single one of these people in charge of our whole entire national defense has the detail orientation to check a group chat list??
The scope of this story will make it a major challenge to cover as a scandal. It's not just one person or department screwing up, ALL of them are on it, ALL of these people participated in an enormous national security breach that I suspect is also extremely illegal:

Outright thuggery. A hearing has been scheduled in the USIP lawsuit as of 2:00 this afternoon on a motion for a TRO. Seems likely a lot of stuff will be destroyed just in the interim, because the DOGE folks know they can smash quickly before the pushback from the courts.
After breaking into the US Institute of Peace (USIP) Monday, DOGE members immediately got to work taking down signs to erase the independent agency.

Photos taken yesterday shared directly with me:

In effectively a single blink of the historical eye, we’ve seen our entire constitutional system simply … stop. We can clearly see what’s happening is wrong—illegal and unconstitutional—and the actors who can do something about that just … aren’t. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/america-s-...

The plus to this is that Gorsuch self-evidently will need to recuse when this gets to SCOTUS, making any DC Circuit decision *much* more likely to be upheld 4-4 at the worst
Worth noting that one of the named defendants in this suit is Jacob Altik, a 2021 University of Michigan Law graduate who has been selected to clerk for Justice Gorsuch starting *later this year.*

I still don't understand why ignoring a FEDERAL Court Order does not result in a penalty.
UPDATE: Chief Judge Boasberg schedules a hearing for 4p today on the government’s notice and the plaintiffs’ response, notes that the gov’t “shall be prepared to provide answers to the questions raised by Plaintiffs on page 6 of their Response.”

Here are those questions:

The New York Times is the first to put out comprehensive estimates on the cost of a year without U.S.A.I.D. and they’re higher than I thought:
- 1.65 million deaths from AIDS
- 500,000 from lack of vaccines
- 550,000 from lack of food aid
- 290,000 from malaria
- 310,000 from TB
Killing children is by design, I'm afraid. "Pro-natalists" like Musk claim they aren't racist, but their pressure to have children is solely focused on white women, while they back policies that literally kill of non-white children.

He's a eugenicist.

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True.
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS motion to HALT deportation under rarely invoked Alien Enemies Act of 1798. “A TRO is appropriate for the class members to prevent the removal of the class.”

WOW. Planes in air must turn around.

A huge win @democracyforward.org and @aclu.org.

Folks outside the U.S.: we who predicted the current neo-fascism have been doing our best to end it, simultaneous to losing our jobs, health insurance, student loans, savings, & places to live. The best way you can be allies to anti-fascist Americans is to welcome us to your countries as refugees.
You'd better shut this down right now, Americans. You're looking more and more like 1938 Germany every day. We all know what happens if you get to 1939.

The fact congressional Democrats have not hired three dozen D&D rules lawyers with oppositional defiant disorder and turned them loose on parliamentary procedure with the goal of maximum obstruction is such a fucking missed opportunity
I’m bringing this up because this is a simple procedural way to fuck with republicans even if they’re in the majority. Call them out of order, rise to a point of personal privilege, use the very procedural rules that organize their meetings to strangle them. It fucking works.

They've already voted across the aisle for Trump's nominees instead of blocking. The party is in crisis while everyone is trying to kiss Trump's ass.

No more freedom of the press/freedom of speech, apparently.
NEW: WIRED got IP blocked by the Social Security Administration, among other outlets covering Musk's takeover.

Federal workers are now "prohibited" from accessing our reporting on "government-furnished equipment."

WaPo, NYT, and MSNBC are likewise banned, sources confirm.
Social Security Workers Aren’t Allowed to Read This Story
