My goal working in #climate is that on Jan 1st, 2050, my dear friend who - despite many other fine qualities - doesn't believe in #climatechange will turn to me and say, "I told you so. Nothing much happened."

I shall perfect my delivery of, "Yes, dear" as the date approaches.

People say ”now is not time to talk [enter here environment/climate/energy transition]“ but yes no it absolutely is the time
Europe is America's biggest customer for fossil gas exports, by a pretty decent margin. One hell of a time to be directly antagonising and alienating the key customer for the already-shaky LNG boom in the US

Mubashir and his family came to the United States as refugees from Ethiopia when he was a child, and they all became naturalized citizens in 2019.

Despite being a U.S. citizen, Mubashir was targeted by ICE, assaulted, and detained. Listen to his story:

It's true, bad culture cancels out tech advantage.

BUT culture add or mix > culture fit

Innovation & creativity thrive at the nexus of varied perspectives/ideas. Collaboration is initially harder for teams w diverse worldviews due to fewer shared assumptions, but that's also why it works.
Should culture fit be a factor in hiring, or is tech skill sufficient?

To me, software development is first and foremost a social activity performed by humans, with all the baggage that comes with being human. Technical competence is nice, but it is not the core of who we are.

My name is Mary Peltola, and I'm running for U.S. Senate to fight for fish, family, and freedom – and that begins with fixing the rigged system in DC that’s shutting down Alaska.

We need systemic change if we're going to lower costs, save our fisheries, and fill our homes with abundance again.

not only should they do this, but schumer in particular should do whatever it takes to get this done, including flattering senate republicans and publicly appealing to them as friends across the aisle and saluting their virtues
To expand on this in a 'what should we do' sort of way, I think the prudent course here is for Dems to see if they can get the handful of GOP votes to force a discharge petition on a bill that affirmatively declares that military action against Denmark or Greenland would be illegal.
I was listening to @thebulwark.com's Next Level podcast today and they were thinking through the chance that Trump actually tries to seize Greenland and there was a @jvl.bsky.social sort of 'I kinda hope he does it to drop the mask entirely' and I just cannot scream loudly enough: No, You Do Not. 1/
