My goal working in #climate is that on Jan 1st, 2050, my dear friend who - despite many other fine qualities - doesn't believe in #climatechange will turn to me and say, "I told you so. Nothing much happened."

I shall perfect my delivery of, "Yes, dear" as the date approaches.

For me, Trump’s unhinged and savage use of the epithet “Piggy” triggered a middle school memory of reading Lord of the Flies in which a sane, rational, and sickly character named Piggy with whom I identified is murdered by a mob of angry brutalizing boys.
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

This person might be unaware that the “choice” of suburban car-dependent living has been heavily subsidized for the 75 (not 100) years of suburban dominance in much of the United States, while being gaslit & shielded from the negative externalities that we ALL pay.

What if it was an honest choice?

This is particularly good news for people living in flats. Air to air heat pumps are particularly good for small properties, or if damp and mould is an issue. They can provide cooling too, which will help with overheating in flats.

All its low-down dirtiness and cosmopolitism and revolutionary ideas about souls created equal by God with the inalienable human right to rule themselves

This messy beautiful place. No one can talk me out of my love for this stupid fuckin country

Good morning with good news: India meets 50% renewables & nuclear capacity target 5 years early!

As clean capacity deploys, clean electricity production surges.

Solar grew from 5 TWh in 2014 to 48 TWh in 2019 & 137 TWh in 2024.

Hydro was 157 TWh; wind 82 TWh; nuclear 55 TWh in 2024. #energysky

The only choice is to complete the shift to renewables, with some baseload nuclear power, and the electrification of transport and heating as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I had an exchange (in my terrible Spanish) with Andry José Hernández Romero, the gay Venezuelan asylum seeker sent, without due process, to an El Salvadoran prison by the US. I told him that I posted a photo of him on here each day he was in captivity & he responded. He said I could share. ❤️

For years, people argued that there's no point in taking climate action unless China is onboard. I'm at a COP30 event where Chinese government officials and renewable industry reps are outlining the fast-paced renewable energy transition and long-term carbon neutrality plan. The story has flipped.

This is the other one. With fossil fuels, discovery costs rise while tech costs fall, meaning prices stay roughly the same (inflation-adjusted) over time. With electrotech, discovery costs are $0, so the only dynamic is falling tech costs. Victory is inevitable.

The green bits are when you spend money and get something of value.

The red bits are when you spend money for literally nothing.

#fossilfuels = more red bits, #renewables = green bits

I think, of all the slides in this report, this is the most important -- it's really worth examining closely. This illustrates why the triumph of electrotechnical is inevitable.
